Buy the keypad from the store or online. (if you know how to disassemble it)
if you just bought the phone for christmas, take it back, don't chance it..... especially if your with Rogers (Canada), I got shit because I debranded my phone and then needed warentee service.... still got it done, but still got shit
if warranty is not covered, go to some phone stores in china town
bring it back for a new one!
of course it's not normal!
but lots w580s have cracked keys!

I did send to the repair service (rogers), when my phone is debranded.
Nothing happen, it's finished repairing. (hardware problem)
yes it is normal all my mates phones have done this aswell. Try buying a rubber keypad.

yea its normal it happened to me and i sent it to the sony erricson service centre

btw when the keypad is broken it doesnt affect that much ~!!

Well I'm just unlucky because I had the keypad replaced twice because all 12 keys broke in half on both of them, I'm on my third one and so far only one key broke.
so is it like just a matter of lucky? but can you still have it replace with it debranded? will the operator still give warranty?

Yep, this seems to be a very common problem for the w580 phones. My 6 key cracked in half about a month ago, and when I called in to the Rogers support center, the guy knew exactly what I was talking about; said he gets it all the time.
I agree with jacko_oafc: get a rubber keypad. It will also make the phone easier to use, because the standard keys are too slippery

I have a 580i and al the keys have cracked, but they still work and up until i sell it i dont see the point in buying a new pad when those keys would probably break as well.
instead of taking it to the center, buy the keys and assemble them yourself. theres a video on youtube that shows how.
