Question about upgrading the firmware on W810i

Hi, I was a given an W810i and I wanted to update the firmware on it to the latest whilst retaining the brand. I initially used SEUS to carry out the upgrade but surprisingly it tells me there's no new software for my phone which was strange. After digging around and reading a few tutorials, I still can't work out whether the FS file is required for a successful upgrade? Can anyone tell me if the update require the two or just the Main firmware file? Thanks

Will flashing with these 3 files keep the O2 network brand on my phone?

Is there any particular reason why you picked a Generic custom pack instead of a network branded one and chose R4ED001_FS_EUROPE_2 instead of R4EA031_FS_EUROPE_2_RED49 to match the MAIN firmware version?

I understand it will be debranded, but as I stated before I would like to keep the brand so is it just the case of picking the custom pack with same CDA as on my phone and I thought the MAIN and FS has to match firmware version in order for it to work?

And I read somewhere bruteforce needed to customise the phone with a CID 49, is that the case? What app would you recommend to flash the phone with?

This "bruteforce" is for old version on XS, you must use last version on XS++v3.1
Or Setool.

And if I want to use another custom pack I just flash the FS and leave the main alone, correct?

If you want to keep the brand you should use a branded MAIN, not a "generic" one. Tell us what is your brand and we'll tell you if there's an update(or not) for your firmware.

The brand is o2 United Kingdom - Prepay preferably.

The latest firmware for O2 is R4EA031.

I thought you have a branded firmware, like Orange, or Vodafone. But you have a generic MAIN and EUROPE2 FS, which means it's not branded. The network elements(theme, startup image, shutdown image) are given by the customization of the FS with the custom file:

Oh I see, now I understand, and what if I would like to change my custom file to something else? Do I have to flash FS again and leave MAIN untouched?

Yes, you have to flash the FS which match with that custom file.

Can i ask , so if i have a K850i , i can choose to flash simply the main SW??

yes you can simply flash the main.......
CAUTION: the main should have same serial as currently installed in your phone....
to check it press.. on stand by screen ->*<-<-*-<-*.........
and then scroll to service info->software info.......
the first line will tell you the current firmware
