Can't remember who mentioned it but as far as the size of the picture is concerned you're right, 3.2mp's still gives great clarity and sharpness. However I've been creating my own home DVD's (you know, family stuff) for a few years now and the larger the TV screen the more obvious which equipment I took the photos with.

You intend to view the photos made by your phone on a TV set, it doesn't matter very much the resolution as long as they are between 640x460 and 720x576. If you want to view pictures at a higher resolution you need a DHTV set and a true HD-DVD player, because standard TV and DVD sets display the image on standard resolution witch is not bigger that 720x576.

Even if you have pictures at a resolution of 3MP and you create a DVD slideshow or video presentation the max resolution will be 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC).

This is true as I have DSLR 10.5 MP camera and pictures on regular TV look the same as those at 3.2 or even 1.5MP.
It is TV hardware that is limited to specific resolution. Now the technology that will overcome this is laser TV. http://www.lasertvnews.com/
