    Z558i completely dead?

    Hello,

First off: This is my first post here. Sorry if this thread is in the wrong forum.

    Secondly, to the problem:

I've gotten hold on a Z558i prototype phone, which is acting very strange - or rather; it ain't doing much at all.

The problem is that it seems to be completely dead, except for the fact that the vibrator is buzzing in short intervals from time to time. The screen is completely black, and no light-indications on the buttons whatsoever when I try to turn on the phone.

I assume that it might be the EROM that's funked up, but I'm clueless as how to resolve the problem - since flashing software doesn't even recognize that there is a phone connected through the USB-cable.

I guess it's a long shot, but if any of you guys got any suggestions on how to revive the bugger (if that's even possible) I'd be greatful. Note that I haven't tried to upgrade the firmware or do any other modifications to it as of yet. I just want the darn thing to start.

In worst case scenario I guess the crap's gonna keep the rest of the household garbage company tomorrow. ;)

what software/hardware are you using to flash the phone?

also have you tried leaving battery out then putting it in after pressing 'flash' or whatever button you press or with battery in, putting cable in after 'pressing flash'

    hope this helps

    wonky:D

Thanks alot for the tip regarding the battery - will definetly try this.

I downloaded the CID49 Pack and gonna try Far+SEFP.

For hardware I'm using a DCU-60 USB cable, and a laptop with the Sony Ericsson USB Flash drivers installed.

Will keep you updated on how things're going.

    Cheers! :)

    ...

Note: Actually managed to get some info out of the phone - so I guess it's not a total goner, even if it refuses to start. Here's the info I got from PhoneXS++:

    19:10:39| PORT STATUS: ACTIVE

    19:10:40| EROM CID: 49
    19:10:40| EROM color: Brown

    19:10:40| Firmware: R4FA006
    19:10:40| EROM: n/a

My guess as a total newbie to this flashing-thing would be that the last line (EROM: n/a) could be the reason why the phone refuses to start, right? The natural question is: how do I resolve it? :)

Thanks for all the help so far!

You have brown phone. You cann't flash it. You must convert in red but it possible for free only by service cable and tespoint, using Setool 2 cracked.
