    Own certificate

Well, yes, Halmer is the only certificate available to the average guy.

But I just succeded in creating and installing OWN certificate (that I generated) into the phone. I do not use the Halmer .exe (I run GNU/Linux), I simply sign the .jar files using JadTool from WTK. Yes, I chose the hard way.

The problem with Halmer as someone pointed out elsewhere is that EVERYBODY can sign their code with it, so it may not be safe to have it installed. But nobody can have code signed with my certificate, can they?

Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not after you ;-)

    Kompas,

Please tell us how you did it. I have a Knoppix based installation at home but I do not use it much. Would like to know how to sign apps on your own. There is a nice TextReader application which I would like to sign so that it doesnot ask for the read/write permissions every time it browses a folder level.

    Thanks,
    ./RR
