Customization = Changing or replacing original content of the phone, like ringtones, wallpapers, icons, themes, that come with branded or unbranded phones. It's nothing more than first default configuring of the phone after flashing FS file. Usually the process is:
    1. Writing customize.xml and server&java certificates in tpa/preset/custom in sonics folder to tpa/presest/custom folder in the phone's internal file system
    2. When the phone starts after flashing, it parses that xml file, puts settings written in that xml into the phone's gdfs and works out certificates (some go to Trusted certificates, some got Java certificate etc)
If you open customize.xml you can change almost any initial settings like time zone, date, internet profiles etc.

Branded Phones = Some network providers place their own ringtones, themes, icons, links etc within phone's software. (eg. vodafone, orange, t-mobie, rogers, cingular etc.) Debranding means removing all this content and restoring phone to it's original factory SONYERICSSON condition. This will not damage phone in any way! You will loose Operator Icons, and links, WAP, and MMS settings however these you can get via Sony Ericsson - Sony Ericsson

select Region ---> Country ---> Support ---> PHONE SETUP

Finalization = Completing flashing operations and storing basic settings that phone needs to properly operate [i.e. security certificates, (and this is why phone displays "configuration error" if it is not properly done)].

    Firmware has two parts:
    1. FS: It contains languages, images, sounds, animations, settings, etc. Anything that isn't pure software.
    2. Main: It contains the software.

Note: MAIN and FS HAVE to be the same software version
    MAIN R1BC002
    FS R1BC002
Customization has to be same region as FS, in this case
    FS = EU5 (EUROPE_5)
    Customization =CDA102338/50 ( EUROPE_5 Sunrise Switzerland)
    Hi everybody!

I read all the 17 pages of this discussion, but I still have some confusion about version of MAIN, FS and Customization.

At the moment my K800i is:

    Detected: DB2020: A1 Series
    Phone IMEI: 35XXXXXX-XXXXX...
Color: Red ; OTP CID: 51
    EROM CID: 52
    Phone Model: K800i
    Operator: EUROPE_5
    CDA: CDA102511/49 R10A
    Phone Firmware: R1KG001
    Firmware CXC: R1KG001_prgCXC1250210_GENERIC_WI
WARNING!!! CID52 SFL2 File: "Unlock_CID52.sfl2" not exist, unlocking not possible!.
    MCC+MNC: 000-000
    NCK: - Unlocked - 5
    NSCK: - Unlocked - 5
    SPCK: - Unlocked - 5
    CCK: - Unlocked - 5
    PCK: - Unlocked - 5
    ESL: - Unlocked - 5
    Phone Code: - Empty
Phone Code lock state: - Unlocked
    Total call time: 00:00:00
    Flip opened times: 0
    Radio Band: 900/1800/1900Mhz
    EROM Version: R3A022

The phone it's apparently unlocked (or not??). I would like to update it with the last firmware release that should be R8BF003, according with the above instructions i should flash with:

    K800_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52

and FS EUROPE5 (to have english and italian) that unfortunately does not exist for this MAIN revision.
With no FS available the region of the Customization files does not matter but if I'm not wrong should be:

    K800i_CDA102511_49_R10A_Generic_Trade_Italy

There are some alternative that I can use for FS, or I should wait until FS EUROPE5 for R8BF003 will be released (... if it will  ), I read somewhere that flashing a K810i MAIN and FS could be an alternative but apparently it could create some issue, what is you opinion?

    Thank you for any help!

P.S.: I know for the moment I can't download any file from the site, I will wait or I will donate a paypal contribute. :) Bye!

I Would Recommend Using K810 Firmware Since Doing So Will Provide You With PhotoFix, TrackID And Newer Version Of Java. You'll Need To Replace Light Effects With Original K800 One For Keyboard Light To Work Perfectly.
    EUROPE5 Is Available In K810.:D
However If You Want To Stick To K800 Firmware, You May Select A Different FS Than EUROPE 5. See Top Sony - Languages Description To Find Another FS With Italian And English.

    OK, you convinced me! :)

I will go for a K810i flash. Just some further info, after the flash the phone will be a K810i in everything, and the identification of the phone (like pushing up & down volume button from stand by) will be K810i right? The patch I could eventually apply have to be for K810i?

To have the K800i light effect I have to change some file during the general K800-->K810 flash or after when the phone is already a K810i (the software to use it's always XS++?).

    Thank you!

Yes.:) It Will Be A K810i Everywhere.

The patch I could eventually apply have to be for K810i?
Yes.:) Furthermore For Your Knowledge, Patch Changes Variable In MAIN So Whatever Models MAIN Is, Patch Has To Be Used For That Model.

To have the K800i light effect I have to change some file during the general K800-->K810 flash or after when the phone is already a K810i (the software to use it's always XS++?).
Flash It With The K810 Firmware Normally. Then Use "Uploading Files Via FSX" Section To Upload The Light Effects To /tpa/preset/system/lighteffect. I Have Attached The K800 Light Effects If You Want It.
    Attached Files

You Can Get Any Original File On The Internet. Like menu.ml, Original Acoustics etc. However, If You Want You May Use FAR To Grab Original Files From Phone Before Modifying. See Customizing Using FAR Manager With DB2020 Phones And With Backward Compatibility. - Top Sony Forums
You Need To Flash Phone With Latest Firmware To Get Rid Of Minor Bugs And Update Driver (Camera,Display,Java etc.)

Hi guys... just a quick question here...

My K850 (not supported by XS++, I knew... but plz... bear with me...) currently using CHINA_SO R1CA029.

Lets say I am to change the phone to GENERIC_S0 R1CA029, can XS++ do it? I noticed the option is there.

Do I need to download anything?

I'm not going to change/customize/edit anything to my current firmware, just to change it from CHINA_SO to GENERIC_SO.

(I'm asking this because apparently SEUS don't have the update for my version of K850, so I thought maybe by changing the above would make it do so)

    Thanks in advance!
