Damsel in distress... really!! hitting brick walls everywhere-even here!

Sorry to be a snivelling female, but am really upset- and am hoping some kind knight will come to my aid. My husband's k610i was showing intermittent inactive sim since we arrived in Belgium last week, and desperate to keep in touch here with him and my old mum (75) back in the UK, tried to buy local SIM's but were told they wouldn't work because phones still locked to vodafone uk. We still have 4 more weeks to go here and so decided to see if I could unlock phone rather than buying new one. As vodafone take about a week to process, did internet search on 'unlocking sims' - Found much info and relatively cheap to buy, so using MY K800i as test case, got programs in bundle (xs++ and others) and followed instructions.

My k800i completed the 'flashing' (as I now know it is!!) and phone became debranded - but didn't expect menus and buttons etc to all change. Now hoping I could put it back to vodafone menus and buttons.

i also debranded my k800i from vodafone, i do miss the call buttons and the battery and signal icons but the vodafone branding is horrible i kept the wap internet links by using a special custpack i made, anyway to rebrand you need

download that firmware from the download section and flash it with xs++3.1 theres loads of flashing guides around this forum just search.

Great - so off I went and registered...

Managed to find the first 2 x files, downloaded and unzipped them, but when I came to the third file - CDA one - took some time to find, but eventually did, and right clicked to save, just like the others, but then I was told I don't have either any permission, or quota left !!!!! (I should have 10 downloads - used 2 = 8 left!!!)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh !!!

I'm desperately trying to repair the phone back to some semblence of order (still haven't looked at husband's k610i yet - moved his sim to an unlocked samsung c300 so at least we are in communication)

Is there anyone out there who could perhaps send me the files (and instructions) to reuse this xs++ or whatever to reinstate the phone to vodafones menu/looks etc?

I'm not a rocket scientist - I was suppose to spend my time during the days embroidering and knitting - doing girly stuff - not flashing phones and stuff!! I'm a Reverend and praying over the phone hasn't restored it back... so, c'mon all you knights in shining armour - please show me what to do with this. Even if the phone ends up being relocked back to vodafone uk, it will be cheaper to get it unlocked with them rather than having to buy a new phone over here.

sorry to say, but i really doubt you'll be able to do that. though cause you loaded your phone with vodafone firmware and custpack it should like you normal vodafone. i hope that someone else can help you...

Dear Shining knights...

Being a rather lateral-thinking lady of the cloth, I decided to pay 1Euro to get my download (hence becoming a premium member!!) and I got the third file :)

I then 'reverse engineered' what I'd done already in the debranding instructions and went to the setool2lt (ver 1.11) again, this time adding the new vodafone main and fs files(that number1 spoke of) into the 'add' section and then added the new vodafone cda zipped file in the misc section and hit the flash button.

I swear I 'died a thousand deaths' whilst this all went through... and held my breath until completion (needless to say praying without ceasing at the same time as holding my breath!! - no mean feat!!)

Finally the process finished and I unplugged the phone, took out the battery, reinserted it, put the sim card in and turned on....

Voila !!

The phone is now back with ALL vodafone menu's, icons, themes, shutdown screens, startup screens and more importantly, the call / end call buttons work as they always did!!

So, thank you to you for thinking of me and willing me to go to 'the next step'...

a REAL WALK OF FAITH !!!!

I'm *assuming* that this can be done by means of inserting a digital code - rather like a pin number??? firstly. aplogise for misunderstanding you problem. i originally has thought that you had flashed all three file and now that i reead your post again i realised you had a problem with the logs credit. really sorry! but any how, im glad it all sorted and that your now once again a happy lady.

The easiest wat to unlock or debrand your phone is to use a pay service like ultimate unlocker.

If your other phone is cid53, db3150 and A2 you will not be ableto unlock using the same procedure as above.

Yes, thanks for the tip Lavondys - it's true, when one wants bread.. go to a baker! when one wants fish... go to a fisherman!
Trouble is, most of these pay services take time - some 7 days (like vodafone) and I was *hoping* that I'd be able to find a solution here - well, there ARE solutions, and indeed Simox gives an explicit tutorial in "Remove SIM-lock patch generator" http://www.topsony.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6329

But alas, try as I might, I cannot find out *how* to choose the right corresponding firmware from the details that were displayed in the program (can't remember now whether it was the setool program??) If someone could point me to the post that instructs how to choose which file is which, I'd be more than happy to give Simox's patch generator a go for hubby's k610i (which is intermittently showing inactive sim)

Other than that, I'll checkout your link and see what time-frames they offer.

Hi

Simox's will only work on cid52 phone etc. His patch will not work on newer versions like i said.

Ultimate unlocker is a live service. Used during the week should take less than 30 mins to unlock and debrand your phone(s). You can even downgrade the CID which is very good NEW feature so if anything happens you can patch unlock it with Simox's patch and also mod the phone with dofferent themes etc etc.

btw, both phones ARE CID 52's so should be good with Simox's patch.

Again, thanks for info re ultimate unlocker... didn't realise until searched that it was available on this site (duh!) so if my quest to do this myself amount to zero today, will go ahead and order that.
