which software (os symbian,... blablabla...) SE use in their phones?
They use their own java based OS I believe. But they are teaming up with Sagem for a new OS.
Hello! i'm quite a noob, but i have played some with FAR. I wonder. Would it be possible to make a java program that runs .exe programs? so that you could have .exe programs on you phone? Plz give an answer, i've thougt about this a very long time! :P Thanks!
Nope that isn't possible. Not now atleast mate :)
There was a way.I red i in some forum long time ago. Some fellow of Japan make his phone read exe files, but it was Windows Mobile OS and the phone was Motorola V700 (MPx200).Quote:
I think it is highly unlikely, because I also thought about it for a long time. Then I understood it's not so simple to do it. May be...
p.s.If i fined the forum i will send you post with the link adress.
SE uses SEMC OS on it's phones. It is not symian, nor java (??), nor linux.
It is oly SE OS, used since z1010 on ARM processors.
By the way SE developers may tought on ms windows:) That's why build-in FS is FAT (yes, simple fat...) and so on.
Nothing is impossible. With a java program you can do any thing which your hardware can be effort . The java is not the problem, the problem is the effort of your hardware. If anybody uses NES emulator J2ME , he will think like me.
java runtime environment has many limitations, which wont allow you, for ex. directacess to gsm functions, access to fs or flash, and you need signed java app to stop boring questions.
the only limitation of java runtime environment is java app can't access directly to hardware.
so java app need a lots memory. if the phone's hardware is strong enough and support totally java env, java apps can do enything
Note, java is Virtual machine, that executes cod indirectly and performance is low. With direct code execution we can afford some like FarCry:) on W810...
So what you saying is that it is possible? I'd love to hear more about this! Thanks
There is a MS-DOS emulator for Pocket-PC and works very well running old exe programs, there is also an emulator for PalmOS apps but as anyone could understand there is not phone powerfull enough to emulate Windows OS, even full powered computers could have a hard time doing that
ye the x-box can run linux, but look at processor specs, or more to the point processor spec differences of the best of the best mobiles, not going to happen, you may be able to get some real cruddy old dos app to run an exe file. but id bet a pound to a penny that there is allready a java app that covers any functions you could get from running an exe.
my 2p worth.

sony ericsson has deal with sagem and maybe new phone has different menu symbian has only smartphones and maybe se make mobile with s60

SE phones are Java MIDP 2.0.
the SE smartphones use symbian OS with UIQ 3 user interface and the other just java
jus looked up the P3 or its supposedly called it has a windows interface...looks reall neat...
correct me if i'm wrong
but dont the m600, p1i, p990 and w960 use sumbian os?
