SE W580i w/ATT

I recently got a W580i from AT&T and I do not like how the shortcut button with the ATT logo brings me to their site loading data.

It uses up data which is charged (1cent / kb) and I can see ppl hitting this by accident many times like I have already. This leading to wasted money.

I called ATT to help me figure this out or help me so I can possibly disable those shortcuts and such icons that may automatically put you at risk; however, he was not able to do it.

So being a person that likes unlocked phones in the 1st place. I like to attempt to unlock/flash my phone to put its full potential out.
Hope that I can customize every button/shortcut/icon on this phone.

Since this is my sony, I am not too familiar but have read the set 2 lite tool and considering to try that.

I want to make sure however, that I can keep my MSN, Yahoo, AIM and regular text messaging service, icons, etc...
I also want to make sure that everything will be flashed accordingly to Sony's stock spec with everything or as much as possible, unlocked like it should have been (when out of Sony's company).

I would like to ask if anyone has done this on their ATT W580i, flashing it to unlock what I need and still keeping the IM, messengers, Video, Mp3, etc... I also like to use my custom themes still~ and insure icons are and will be there :)

May I get some help, feedback, and appointed to the right direct.

Basically this is why I am considering debranding and maybe unlocking in the process if its not too risky.

1) Be able to customize all the shortcut buttons/keys
2) Remove AT&T logo, and locked areas

However, if it will prevent these, then please appoint me to the right direction.

1) If I will lose my Messengers (Yahoo, aim, msn, etc...)
2) Normal txt msg service
3) Basic/main default icons or anything important!

Lastly: If the criteria are meet, which firmware in consideration for US use and latest. As a bonus, have Chinese language display as well for my mp3s :)

Other then that, I really would love to debrand and unlock my W580i (white) phone from AT&T.

Another question for those that have this phone with AT&T.
If you use any of the messengers included. Does it count as a text message or data meaning you will need a data plan or it will be charged as texT? confused?

I have 200 txt plan and use msn but dunno if its using that or extra for every message.

why would you want to make w580 to w910?

you can flash the phone with CHINA or APAC firmware versions, then you'll have chinese in your phone.

I don't use the messenger service, but IIRC, they are counted as message ($.15 per message) rather than internet traffic ($.01 per Kbyte). They have this info on their website.
However if you flash your phone, the built in messenger will be gone. You can use some java based messenger though.

u will lose ur messengers but theres loads of java messengers to choose from to replace them debranding ur phone won't effect ur text messenging, u will be better of debranding the phone it will remove all Remove AT&T logos, and locked areas

why would you want to make w580 to w910?

im with at/t and i asked about the aim/msn messages. it will be used as (text message received/sent) not as data. i got myself the 'unlimited text' w/no internet. so you should go with that.

and if you flash, ive read somewhere that you could re-download the aim prog and load it into your phone again. i'll link it up when i find it again.
