Debrand w580i with rogers...will everything change?

Hello everyone, new to this forum and new to this phone flashing thing so please bare with me...i have been looking around for a couple of hours here and there trying to find info on how all this is supposed to work and i think i get the jist of it but i would like to make sure before i go through with this and i still have a couple of questions.I guess i should start by saying i own a se w580i and im with rogers canada.
Now,i already enjoy my phone very much and i would like it to stay pretty much the same exept for the stupid limitations like not being able to use mp3 for ring tone or adjusting the volume of the camera shutter sound among a couple of things...once i do flash will my options stay the way they are or is everything going to be moved around?
-And to upgrade firmware do i have to flash again every time?
-What would be the best firmware and custom pack to use? There seems to be a few options there but what are the differences?
-Will the flash themes i use now still work after?
-i have seen other people using different os like vista or linux on the phone, how does that work?
Thats a lot of questions, sorry about that...but the more info i get the more it seems to get confusing.

Any info will be very much appreciated
    Thank you

You can use SEUS, but than your CID is 53 and so you only can flash with the jdflasher :(

When you want the best (fasters) firmware use the newest firmware. But for older firmwares are more patches present.
In newer Firmwares are often some bugs fixxed.
And customfiles are not so important like the Firmware ;)

Will the flash themes i use now still work after?
The flashthemes are away you must upload against.

i have seen other people using different os like vista or linux on the phone, how does that work?
This is only fake ;) They use vista themes and often elfs.

    Sorry for my english :o

If you uploaded a custom menu, then you need to upload it again after flashing. The default menu will not change excessively. If you don't like the menu after debranding, then you can change it...

looks like you only want to remove certain limitations, instead of total debranding, which you may not be able to reverse should you wish to for warranty purpose.

For instance you can enable MP3 ringtone by changing the following line in customize.xml

    <enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3>true</enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3>

suppress camera sound when in silent mode:

    <suppress-camera-sound>true</suppress-camera-sound>

Or load a different camera shutter sound file, without changing anything else.

You can use XS++ only if your phone is CID52,but if your phone have CID53 only free tool for now is jdflasher

You edit customize.xml with simple text editor like Notepad

What is your CID number: 53 or 52?
