Lightbulb W580i - Help - After Warranty Support

HI all, it's my first thread in this forum.
    :)

Lately, got some problems with my W580i like LCD and flex (buttons). Sent to Sony Ericsson and they fixed it, well actually they said it could not be fixed and gave me a new one.

I'm worried about XS++ reporting me something curious and i really dont know if i have to worry about it or there is nothing to worry about. I want to solve it but if the new phone get problems so i would lose warranty?

I hope someone could help, is there anyway to solve this????

This is the log after Sony Ericsson gave me the new phone:

16:21:53| Attempting to open the interface...

    16:21:53|

    16:21:53| TURN OFF PHONE!

16:21:53| Hold 'C' button on phone and connect phone NOW.

    16:21:53| You have 30 seconds...

    16:21:53|

    16:21:56| Baseband ID: 9900

    16:21:56| Protocol Version: 3.1

16:21:57| Warning: IMEI name does not match GDFS name (IMEI:NULL GDFS:W580)

    16:21:57| ...using GDFS name

    16:21:57| EROM CID: 52

    16:21:57| EROM Color: Red

    16:21:57| IMEI: 35224102xxxxxx

    16:21:57| Phone ID: W580

    16:21:57| Region: AMERICA_2

    16:21:57| CDA: CDA102774/114 R4A

    16:21:57| Firmware Version: R8BE001

    16:21:57| EROM: R3A022

    16:21:57| Ready for operation!

And this is the old phone log before i sent to the warranty support:

13:24:04| Attempting to open the interface...

    13:24:04|

    13:24:04| TURN OFF PHONE!

13:24:04| Hold 'C' button on phone and connect phone NOW.

    13:24:04| You have 30 seconds...

    13:24:04|

    13:24:08| Baseband ID: 9900

    13:24:08| Protocol Version: 3.1

    13:24:08| Phone name detected!

    13:24:08|

    13:24:08| Profiling SEMC phone...

    13:24:08| Platform: DB2020

    13:24:08| OTP CID: 51

    13:24:08| EROM CID: 52

    13:24:08| EROM Color: Red

    13:24:08| IMEI: 35714301xxxxxx

    13:24:08| Phone ID: W580

    13:24:08| Region: AMERICA_2

    13:24:08| CDA: CDA102774/114 R4A

    13:24:08| Firmware Version: R6BC002

    13:24:08| EROM: R3A022

    13:24:08| Ready for operation!

Another interesting thing is that when i plugged the new phone in the drivers were already installed by the use of the old one but windows detected as a new device and added the same drivers as #2. This should only prove that they really changed the phone or does it mean anything else?

Thanks in advance for everyone reading this now,
    :)

You Are Talking About "16:21:57| Warning: IMEI name does not match GDFS name (IMEI:NULL GDFS:W580)". Dont Worry About It. But Keep Your GDFS Backed Up To Be On Safe Side. And USB Installation No 2 Is Not Exactly A Identity Of A New Phone. Simple Way, Check Your IMEI.

Hi there and thanks for the answer,

I've checked my IMEI and in fact it's the only thing that changed plus the firmware changed too.

    The old one is 35714301xxxxxxx
and the new one is like 35714302xxxxxxx

What would i do if i want to solve this? IF they changed the phone it would not be a good idea to back up the GDFS would it? Is there any other way?

I've tried flashing the firmware to R6BC002 because it has a perfect camera quality but the log keeps the same thing and not even the "firmware" line of the log changes. The ">*<<*<*" phone service command tells me i have both R6BC002 in the first line then rolling down i see the same R8BE001.

Should i get back to the OLD R8BE001 or it's just a software bug and my phone is working under the R6BC002??

    Thanks in advance,

Re: W580i - Help - After Warranty Support

What problem(s) you are trying to solve? You got a new phone from the service centre, of course the IMEI is different.

You can back up GDFS of your phone to your PC. A different phone will have a different GDFS file created by the backup.

You should always back up GDFSt to the PC before flashing your phone.

I guess you only flashed the MAIN but not the FS of your phone. So you now have a phone that has mis-matched firmware. That's why you see 'both R6BC002 in the first line then rolling down i see the same R8BE001'. This may or may not cause problems in the future, but the MAIN and FS should be of the same version whenever you flash the phone.

    You should either

    1. flash R8BE001 MAIN to make everything R8BE001

    or

    2. flash R6BC002 FS , then a proper custpack or perform finalization using XS++, to make everything R6BC002

i agree with what mohdumer says, keep your GDFS backed up. it only takes a few secs to back up.

Re: W580i - Help - After Warranty Support

    Thanks for the explanation beep.

What i'm worried about is that there may be something going on this phone after the service centre support. If the IMEI comes from the GDFS then why is it different and it's giving me this message?

I know the same procedure i did in the old phone that flashed ok as you can see in the log i did the same procedure to the new one and i did not forget any of the files of the firmware. That makes me afraid if some of the options you gave me may kill the phone. In fact i been using it this way for some days and nothing happened. At least it works Ok. So just one question.

May my firmware be locked for upgrade or something like that so that is the reason why it did not upgrade all the firmware?

Because i'm sure i did the right procedure putting both two firmware files in the right boxes because i have a howto here that i always read in order to keep it going right.

Also what kind of problems may come in the future? Is it dangerous?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help

Re: W580i - Help - After Warranty Support

You did the right procedure, but used the wrong file, based on your VAGUE description of 'R6BC002 in the first line then rolling down i see the same R8BE001' ... R6BC002 and R8BE001 don't just appear without other information. R6BC002 for what? R8BE001 for what?

Your log did not contain enough information to tell us that you did everything correctly.

If the phone is working fine for you, that's good. Don't flash anything. There are always risks associated with every flash attempt. I suggested flashing only because you asked "Should i get back to the OLD R8BE001 ..... "

"It did not upgrade all the firmware" only because *you* did not perform the correct steps to successfully flash all the firmware files.

Re: W580i - Help - After Warranty Support

    Well all i did was

1)take the memory card out and the sim card too.
    2) plug the phone pressing "C"
    3) check main firmware and fs firmware in the XS3.0++ software and not the customization options
    4) put the "W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52" in the first one
    5) W580_R6BC002_FS_AMERICA_2_RED52 int the second.
    6) As the done message appear just plugged it off (this include all the battery procedure and tuning the phone on again) then waited for the "PLEASE WAIT" message to be finished then plugged it back to XS++

Is it something wrong or it's just my firmware that can't be flashed?
That information i said i got from the command you do in the phone as if you gonna make a call to >*<<*<*. It's a command that provides information from the phone and its components version.

    "SOFTWARE INFO"
    R6BC002 prgCXC1123362_GENERIC_LA R6BC002

    EROM: (...)

    LCD SOFTWARE VERSION: 0
    CAMERA DRIVER VERSION: 3.8

    SOFTWARE ITP VERSION: 112 3323 R1F

    CUSTOMIZATION:
    CDA102774/114 R4A
    cxc1123364 R8BE001 AMERICA_2

    (...)

That is it. I need only the Customization isn't it? Is that what you call "CUSTOMIZATION PACK"?

    Red is the customization
    Green is the FS version

I guess your firmware files were not downloaded from here. i.e. the file name is R6 BC002 but inside it's actually R8BE001, OR your FS flash was not successful.

Different custpack are reflected in the red portion of the above line. i.e. if you put on a different custpack, the red portion will change but the green portion will remain R8BE001.

If it's working fine, don't worry about it.
