    W580i side button buggy

I noticed the other day that every once and awhile, the side buttons on my W580i go buggy on me. Usually when in standby mode, pressing the side buttons turns on the back light so that you can see the current time, missed calls, etc. Sometimes though, pressing them does nothing in standby. I have to restart phone in order to get them to work properly.

Anyone else notice this? It's not that big of a deal, just annoying

I have a problem with mine too, but it's a different problem. The +/- side keys are supposed to disable the sound and vibration when someone calls but sometimes it turns into 'busy tone' when pressed too soon.

Or maybe you press them both or twice...?

In standby the side buttons turn on the backlight for me. Are you using R8* firmware by chance?

No, I'm using R6BC002. It only happens every once in awhile if I don't power cycle my phone for a few weeks or so. Its completely random, I can't seem to reproduce the bug

    Try using latest firmware

Seems strange. You can try reflashing your phone.

You can try loading the lastest firmware.

Well, the current firmware (R8BE001) still has some bugs in it (light issue still hasn't been fixed) but it does improve the speed of the menus and updates the installed version of Java. It probably wouldn't hurt to give it a try and see if that resolves your issue. (You can always revert back to R6BC002 if you wanted to)

If the issue is still there in R8 maybe it's hardware related?

I believe he means just shutting off the phone removing the battery and putting it back together and turning the phone back on.

By power cycle, I just mean turn it off and then back on.

Also, I have flashed R8BA024 and R8BE001 but the light bug drives me to madness :(
