K800i right-joystick shortcut

Hi. I've already got some good help from you guyz, but i'm still a bit lost (there is just soo much info here for a newbie like me...) :-)

Anoyhow... here is a couple of (hopefully) simple questions for you experts:

* I want to change one single thing: I want to change my 'right-joystick shortcut' to point to a java app (KD player ;-) ). I've understood that it is possible by customizing a file?....

* Next logical question.. how do i download that file from my phome so i can alter it? Alternatively, since my phone is unbranded / unlocked (but CID52), can i just download an 'original' file from here, alter it and then upload it to my phone?

* Last.... i want to change the menu icons and background (menu page). I found some nice 'Flash menus' but then read that i cannot flash my K800i. What do i do instead?

kk. Ima try answer as good as i can to these questions.

*1: If u find out how to change the right_shortcut_key, Let me kno! cause i want to change that too. I found a HOOK_3 that removed the right_shortcut_key. But im still unsure how to get the KD player in to it

*2: With XS++ its not possible to copy files from phone file system to PC. You can only remove or replace. Im not sure how FarManager works. Yes. if ure Phone uses "original" from a firmware update u can download them from here. edit them and replace the excisting files in phone_sys (just make sure you kno wat ure doin while editing file)

*3: You will never get Wxxx or Sxxx Flash menus. Kxxx phones dont support that. It is possible to change menu icons in phone to K810-K810. You can download menus here.

To install MENU. simply connect youre phone to XS++. --> FSX --> tpa / Preset / system --> menu

When "pressing" menu. u will see files stored in there. Remove them. and add the menu png files that u downloaded and dont forget the "MENU.ML" file.

Press "Shutdown" and disconnect the phone. close the program. and start ure phone. There u go. the new icons should be there.

(There is even possible to download new fonts (text style) to the phone. if thats a new question. ill guide u then)

Coool... is it risky? And since we're about it... could i flash it straight to K850?

By the way... i did as you suggested, and my phone is dead cool now :-)
Next step is trying to make a shortcut to KD Player (but not tonight.. i'm enroute to a party :-)

Oh... related questing: Can i also alter / upload / overwrite those ugly top icons on the phone (the ones showing battery status, if a java app is running, connection strength etc..)?

I'm also working on a theme that fits both with KD player, the menu icon scheme i used, and so on.. i'll post it when i'm finished :-)

well. as on the party aalready. im not in any condition to make any statement right now. But i kno 1 thing for sure. U cant add a K850 firmware to a K800. The K800 and the K810 is db2020 phones. the K850 is another DB. 3150 i think. Well anyway. u cant crossflash the phone. it could in worse case kill youre EROM and the phone would be dead. You can only update the phone firmware from k800 to k810.

Yes you can change battery icons and stuff. but thatn u need to learn patching. And thats 1 step further away than ive become. You would need to seek "patch" help from another place.

Im happy to see the results of youre KD player skin.
Hopefully it would be great enough to DL it..

hey vizar...if u flashed ur fone to k810...whr did u get the MAIN and FS from...i want the FS of M_EAST_N_AFRICA...and i cant seem to find it anywhere else except topsony...but dey have dwlaoding restrictions....know any other place??....

@huz_90: I tried several other forums before ending up here. I get better and faster answers here, and find it more 'accessible' than other forums. Yeah, you'll have to pay a few $ to download, but for my part, i preferred that rather than to search the entire internet for each file ;-)

@Twinn_aces: Thanks for all your excellent help so far. I saw in another thread that you have the same problem as me: creating a shortcut (joystick-up) directly to the KD Player. Let me know if you figure out how, and i'll of course do the same ;-)
