W580i Software Fault (I think)

My GF has a W580i i bought her just before xmas and recently the back button and the directional buttons have ceased working and the screen freezes up and icons go all over the screen and the phone turns itself off.

I took it into O2 store where my mate is the manager and the techie there opened it up an it doesnt have liquid damage but suggested it could be software fault and need a firmware/software upgrade and said that it could be sent away fr a coupel weeks to be done or u can do it at home now.

I went to Sony Ericsson website nad downloaded the software update progrm and tried that but the problem continues and since i was on here sorting out a W880i (great help thanks guys) and that this fault is a common fault on W580i models then sumone may have an idea of how to sort it.

I dont have the phone details at moemnt but if anyone can sort it then i can suppy the details to continue with it. Also will it be possible to sort it with SETools v1.1 lite?

did SEUS actually perform a update? Or it say it was OK no update needed?

If it says it updated and you still are having problems I WOULD SAY that its probably not a computer problem (firmware) but actually a hardware problem (bad connection, worn out buttons.

A full flash should work, any lose cables or damage would have been noticed when the phone was taken apart, heres a guide

in the guide posted it says i need the flash/firmware files, which ones would i need for the phone and where would i find them, i can pay the premium again to get them from here so just need sumone to point me in right direction :D

i downloaded

and followed the instructions in the guide posted above and now when i turn the phone on it comes up with a message "configuration error. Please contact your network operator or service centre"

I attempted to write the gdfs i got from SETools lite to the phone but thats not worked. Any ideas on whats happened and how i can sort it?
Also the bittons still dont work, the menu screen problem seems to have been resolved its just the buttons and the com error now.

Why did you write the GDFS, if you got configuration error? Your phone had to be finalized and it would work.

Finalize your phone. Look at the point 4) Customizing your phone, in this tutorial
