W850i Big Problem!! Flash? HELP Please!!

Right, so i bought my w850i 2 months ago for christmas.

Recently the screen started to go white then i'd either have to wait a few minutes or turn it off and on again for it to correct itself, whilst the screen was white i could still listen to music, recieve calls etc.

as time went on this got increasingly worse, and i'd find new problems such as the screen would appear to be upside down or overlapping etc or sometimes the colours would go just black and white.

now, after pressing the power button, vibrates once, a white screen appears, the power LED flashes 10 times and then the phone turns itself off again.

i'm not on warranty or insurance, i cannot return the product.

i'm on Orange UK, Pay as you go,
Sony Ericsson W850i
I believe it's RED CID 52 if that helps anything?
I have a usb lead from computer to the phone,
I have tried updating the phone via sony ericsson updater,
but it says that i do not need the update, if i say download anyway it fails at 93%.

If your battery has enough charge, then the EROM is corrupted. It can be fixed, just follow this tutorial: REPAIRING EROM GUIDES for most sonyericsson phones

After repairing the EROM, don't forget do backup your GDFS.

Then reflash your phone completely. Follow this tutorial: Flash your phone using SETool 2 Lite or XS++ 2.x Guide

I have only been with this helpful website for a mere day, i need to send 20 useful posts and be with them for 2 months before i can download anything :mad: how can i download the firmware that matches,

Platform: DB2020
EROM Color: red
Phone ID: w850

I have downloaded XS++

my phone successfully connects but according to the tutorial first i must repair the EROM by using 'Flash Main Firmware'.

Can someone give me a download link for these please? i've been searching for an hour now with no luck ! :(

I don't know how, why or what just happened but it seems to be working;)

I just downloaded a file called- W850_R1KG001_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52.fbn

opened XS++, connected my phone, put the file to install on main and flash as that directory, whacked it on charge and bam. working. only problem is the speaker isn't working that lets you hear people when you're in a call, so i'm going to have to use loud-speaker, other than that it's all good :). Thanks for your help, you just saved me £40 =]

This sounds quite quite impossible. The file you mentioned is the filesystem and therefore totally unsuitable as MAIN firmware.

Seriously, I added it as filesystem firmware, then when i turned the phone on, it worked. but it had trouble with the simcard and wouldn't allow me to use my phone, so i re-did it but checked both boxes [Filesystem & Main Firmware] & set the path to that file and BAM worked =]. I also changed the Area to Europe 1, that's quite possibly why i suppose.

nothing related to software
it is the navi-key keypad problem or the sliding mid-plate problem
i've treated such case before in hong kong
blinking and blinking white screens, right?

what did you do to fix the white blinking screen mate, i`d really like to know to see if i can fix my phone that has the same blinkng screen issue.
