W810i Issues :(

Hi all,

Been surfing thru the site all day, reading up and learning how to flash/unlock my temp w810i, but ive run into some problems, so decided to sign up to seek help :) Not sure where this should go as it covers a few things, so stuck it here, i'll cover what i can, and see what you think.

First I have read the tutorials on flashing with xs++ and patching with setool lite** , repairing a bad flash and others, secondly yes i have backed up my gdfs before i started
and all went fine..... up until the unlocking/patching stage, what i did:

1 Flashed Using W810_R4EK001_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49/W810_R4EK001_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49

2. customised the file system - Everything is Fine at this point, phone turns on, goes to walkman without a sim etc.. all info is displayed in xs BUT mine was a uk t-mobile, which according to the cda list on here is a /8, there was no /8 europe in the list on xs, so i left it with the top one which was /108 europe, is this ok? I or could this be the cause of my problem outlined below? although, this problem only happened after the unlocking stage, or thats when the prob appeared anyway. if so, how to fix it?

3. Created patch with SIMLockPatchGen_v2.1

4. Applied patch with setool lite using the doc guide

Now i know that info shouldnt be missing, so thinking ive done something wrong, so obviously first thing i did as it says everywhere, is restore my gdfs..... it wont :/ it just hangs at i think it was activating gdfs. But, i can still flash the firmware, so i have, and now my infos back:

This is before ive customised the file system btw, i also havent tried to restore the gdfs in this state (or i may have, ive tired a few ways to get the patch to work etc.. but cant quite remember what i tried ya know?) So dont know what to do from here. Am i doing something wrong? Or is this just a weird problem as i see its worked for a lot of people :).

Lots of brackets, and a bit unorganised i know, but tried to cover everything and it is 6am lol. Hope u can all help me solve this, and anythin ive missed that may help let me know.

**it took me ages to find the patching with setool 2.0 guide without having to sign up here (because i refuse to have to sign up to any site just to be allowed access to files and basic info. i beleive the internet is here to access info without having to have your presence known if u dont want to) and when i found it, its so simple, its 3steps, does it really needto be a downloadable guide? lol

How much I understand you want to unlock your phone?

Remove SIM-lock patch generator

It should work, because your phone is a DB2010 CID 49. Simox patch generator supports at the moment DB2000/DB2010 CID36/49 and DB2020 CID52 platforms.

Did you get something like "can't open file "C:\[your_setool2_folder]\re st\R4EK001_CXC1250316_GENERIC_HN" when you patched your phone?

The 108 Custpack you are talking about is for Spain.

No offence, but seriously, why reply when you havent even read my post? I know it should work, as ive tried but it isnt for me, that is what this is about :)

No i didn't see that error, it seems to patch/unpatch ok :)
I thought it was for spain, is it ok to just install the t-mobile custpack from the dl section over it yea?

in what state is your phone now? is it working ok? where did you place the patch when applied it?

My phone has curently been flashed only, no customisation yet. It turns on and will run the walkman without a sim (although the background is a horrid pink coulor, i hope thats not an issue)
What do you mean where did i apply it? Do you mean how? If so in setool i chose my phone, put the vkp file in misc and clicked write script as said in the patching guide.

Any ideas what i should do?
Should i try and restore the gdfs then reflashing/customising?
Or shall i customise from where im at and try and patch again/a different way?

in what state is your phone now? is it working ok? where did you place the patch when applied it?

don't mess with your GDFS, if it is damaged your phone won't turn on at all, try to flash it again using this
MAIN: W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49
FS: for your country and matching Custom Files. then see if it is working and then create the patch for this MAIN and apply it.

PS: matching FS version for R4EA031 main is R4ED001.

Thanks Very much khaba, using that firmware everything went smoothly, i now have a working debranded unlocked phone so it seems theres some issues with R4EK001 :/. Thanks for all your help, and i'll be around, to start asking questions like what the hell do half of those patches that are available do :s lol.
