Debrand a w580i (help)

I have a w580i on uk vodafone would like it to take any sim card can anyone help how i go about this and what software i need am a newbie and this will be my first attempt at doing this cheers
think i have posted this in wrong place i want my fone to take any sim not just to get rid of all the vodafone suff any help please :)

You need to unlock your W580, not debrand. Debrand means to get rid of the Vodafone stuff and loading the original Sony Ericsson firmwares onto your phone.

Do i need to download new firmware and how do i know what firmware to get i see alot of different ones to replace mine do ineed anything else than the patch, setool2 1.11 and the drivers thank for the help :)

I have tried all nite to unlock my w580i to any network with setool2 lite 1.11 and qamaker to patch it. installed the usb drivers and followed the guide to use it but everything went fine but when i try another sim card i got an error message insert correct sim got all the firmware W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52 for it and never got any errors all the way through doing it twice put still wont take another sim anyone help :(

i think u shud flash the FS also. not only the main.

well im no expert but i would think you would have to reflash the main and fs with generic (non branded) firmware, because if you just flash the main the fs may still be vodafone you also need setool to write the vkp patch, please let me know how you got on....

hey leckie, can you post the step you did in detail? your message is a little messy to read especially without punctuation.

because you shouldn't need to flash your main or fs when unlocking. but if you did flash your main. you may need to flash your FS also. because your MAIN and FS versino must match.
