Red face W580i is a brick!

Hi there, my first post! I was told to post here for some help I need with my W580i phone.

I got it last week from my wife, but she got it me on T-mobile (uk) sim, but the rest of the family are on 02 and so is my old sim card. So I tried to unlock it without any success and now it won't even turn on??

I haven't told the wife yet as I am hoping someone could tell me in plain English what I can do to solve this. If it involes money then don't bother posting.

If it helps my son has the exact same phone but he is already with 02. Is it possible to copy the software form his and put it on to my phone? I am using SETool lite.

Hope someone can help or can point me as to where I can get the original software from so at least I can turn it on.

    Thx

    Welcome to the forum!

    But...
...how should we be able to help you if you give no details at all?
...how about telling us what you did and posting up your logs?

Don't bother asking for firmware uploads, that's against the forum rules.

The problem is that the MAIN firmware gets entirely destroyed by the alternative bypass and you didn't flash it again.

"CSloader refused to start GDFS services, error is:29" This could be fatal, it indicates a bricked GDFS. Did you make a backup of your GDFS before you flashed it?

I'm not 100% sure about this, that's why I didn't answer your question in my previous post.
Your son's phone would have to have the same CID as your (52). I don't think it's possible with SE Tool lite.

But you won't be able to flash the firmware if your GDFS is bricked and it looks like it really is.

    I would submit a question.
Always I read to backup gdfs first, and so many time I read -your gdfs is corrupted-.
I have worked with so many mobile and never I did a backup and never I had to use it.

It is very important or not to backup the gdfs?

    To Dingle
First of all, to apply a vkp patch you need to flash the main together with the vkp patch, otherwise you got a -false- brick.
Have you tried to flash a main firmware?

    berthstein:

    Yes, it is.
If you want to apply a patch to your phone, add it in the "misc" tab in SE Tool lite and accidentally press "Write GDFS" instead of "Write Script" your phone will be a brick. That may sound stupid but it happened to many users.

If you haven't got a model which is supported by SEMC8.4 or SET2cracked you won't be able flash any other GDFS and restore the important values so that the foreign GDFS will work for your phone.

It's even worse if you screw up the GDFS of a DB2020 phone (from now on you'll need SE Tool 3 Box). Those are really hard to fix. If you've got a CID52 phone you won't be able to format the GDFS area. If there is any trash data you won't be able to revive the phone.
If you've got a CID49/51 phone you can read out the secunits, flash a foreign GDFS and restore the secunits backup. That won't work out if these values have already been altered.

Yes, they have. But the TP is below the flash chip so your have to desolder it.
Besides that we're not the support forum of any box that you have to pay for.
