W580i Memory question

According to SE web site, W580i supports up to 2GB M2 memory....has anyone tried anything more than 2GB ?? Does it support >2GB? :confused:

W580i can supposedly use up to 4GB M2 memory though I haven't personally tried it. See this link: Sony Ericsson - Memory stick compatibility chart

Using 8gb right now - no actual problems except that the Info screen only shos 4gb - File Menu's info screen shows full 8.
I got mine for around $103 ... overpaid as far as I'm concerned, but little choice.

You could check newegg.com, though they're not the cheapest these days. Try pricewatch, pricegrabber, or google products. I bet you can find one for pretty cheap. Unfortunately M2 mem isn't cheap like SD mem is :(

mine came with free 8GB upgrade.. had to wait about a month to get it, but sweet for free... mine also only shows 4GB on info, but all 8 are there.

Yup - I have w580i (a debranded at&t version) and a Sandisk 8gb M2 card - they work perfectly. The card has 1.5gb of free space left though.
Did sony tell you that it only supports 4gb or did you find it on their website?

The SE site (see compatability chart above) only says W580i supports 4GB. Glad to know it supports more though! How is your file access time with the 8GB stick? Is it still pretty quick?
