General Information about Patch-Unlocking (start here if you want to unlock)

I posted this on the other forum too, so apologize for duplicating, just not sure which is the right place to post:

Quick question on applying the Simox unlock patch. Do I have to first flash the firmware before applying the patch, or can I just apply the patch. I have read different tutorials and most don't mention having to flash the firmware, but at least one or two say to flash the firmware first. Is this required, if so why? Is it to make sure the firmware matches the patch? If so, do I have to flash both Main and FS? Thanks.

Hi,i'm looking for some help,I've managed to flash my k610i with main and fs used quick access patch did the simlock generator and patched phone with that and did a custom pack aswell put my o2 sim in it all boots up fine then the it says sim innactive any ideas what ive done wrong?cheers

Why can't I patch-unlock my K800i? I have changed Main and FS several times, tried several different ones and still can't unlock! :confused:
