w300i Dead phone! need advice and help for newbie

Its a sony w300i (rogers) and will not turn on or charge. Only thing that happens is a solid red light (side screen) on when pluged into be charge. I tryed removeing the batt and replace and nothing,,,,this has also done this before but decided to work on its onw about 10mins after....now its not coming on at all no matter what i do.

Ive been reading for 2hrs on here getting a good base, but am kinda lost on where should i start. I dont have hispeed connection... so what are my best options? I also only have the usb cord that comes with the phone.

Should I try and upgrade the firmware or what?? Im not interested in paying for things if its permently dead, or at all for that matter. Where should i start, and with what program? thanks if you can help

Can you connect your phone to xs++ 3.1?

You Need To Update Your EROM.
Download WotanClient Here.
Start The Client.
Now Clear All Log In Info (User Name And Pass Field).
Press Start.
Remove And Re-insert You Phone Battery And Then Keep 2+5 Keys Pressed Together And Insert The Cable (Although Wotan Will Ask You To Press "c").
Release The Button And Wotan Will Update Your EROM. It Shoudnt Take More Than 30secs.
Your Done. Now Your Phone Should Work.

do any of these cost $$?? what one is free or faster for dial up to download, the wotan or xs++. I assume im useing the cord that came with the phone??

Oh yah before i do this is there any way to back up the files/contacts from the internal mem (not the mem card im going to remove that)...i assum not if the phone wont turn on now.

if this works,, i might do it to my same working phone just to get rid of the rogers stuff...the worst is haveing there song in my mp3 list when its on random. gerrrr

if you update your erom (i am 99.9% sure your erom is broken) you dont miss a thing...but if that fails you will have to flash your phone and unfortunately you will everything stored in phone's memory..

ok got the phone up and running but not by useing the wotan??? the phone after not working for 2 weeks strait decided to work on its own???

Anyway i had issues connceting to the phone. Wotan never actually connected to the phone. I installed the usb flashdriver but everytime i pluged the phone into my usb cord it would automaticly start the sony pc suite on my computer? How do i fix this?

Go to SonyEriccsonPCSuite - Tools - Options - unmark Run PC Suite when I start my computer.
Then give a restart to your computer. It should work!

ok did that but my computer still shows "unknown device" and when i try to update the driver (because there is none, with USBFlashDriver and when i click next it shows the magnify glass going in circles and it doesnt find anything...even tho the driver file is in that place???

Tutorial to Install or Update Flash drivers:

Unrar Pack
Right Click on ggsemc.inf file, click install !
Drivers will get copied in fraction of second !!
Go ahead and use xs++ or setool2 lite.
