Dear God, another il-informed newby...

First off-- I'm so sorry--- I tried searching and understanding how to flash a W810i by myself--- and it slowly became the most confusing thing I have ever done on a computer. For the record, I am not that bad with modding devices but pretty close to a cOmPLETE retard.

Here is my problem to the best of my explanatory abilities. Girlfriend threw phone--> White Screen of Death--> (Phone vibrates, sony ericcson splash flashes, white screen blinks on and off for seconds at a time, cant make calls)

I first tried using the Sony Ericcson update Util and it got to 100%, but then failed. I figured running it a second time would be in vain.I live in USA and the phone uses the AT&T (Formerly Cingular Wireless) network.

1. Can someone pretty please point me to the clearest guide possible to flash a w810i using XS++ 3.1
   
   
   2Where to download the MAIN and FS, and any other necessary files
   
   
   3 Is customization needed? AMERICA2 for me?
   
   
   4 Anything I'm forgetting that will mess me up?
   
   
   5 Also, on youtube, videos of sleek shiny flash menus are presented (what part of the flashing process is that? a good link for a guide for that?)

Begin.. about tutorial look at: XS++ 3.1 Guide-Flashing,Customizing,Recovering - Top Sony Forums (it's perfect, i use it to flash my w810i).
About Main and FS you can download in firmware subgroup of download section (have to pay a little for it). Also is necessary the Customization file in order to finalize the phone. You have to choose Main, FS and Custom according your original firmware version and, most important, according to your cid (a sort of protection against flash). w810 can be cid49 or cid50. my w810 was cid49, you must watch the initial log in xs++ after to have connected the phone as written in tutorial. If you post your phone log the forum can be help you easily. About flash menu is suggest to upload later (alwais the same tutorial). I hope to be clear

No, custom pack can be donwloaded from the custom file subgroup of download section and then selected in xs++ as described in tutorial. the only difference between America 1 and 2 are the language supported:
AMERICA_1 -> US English - Canadian French - Latin American Spanish
AMERICA_2 -> US English - Brazilian Portuguese - Latin American Spanish

Flash menus have always been part of the Spec of the W810i. The thing is though that some companies (Rogers in particular) lock this feature in an attempt to get you to buy their flash theme.

Flashing your phone, provided you use the generic firmware, will debrand your phone and allow you to use flash themes.

As for downloading the firmware and Custpaks, TopSony's download list is by far the most comprehensive.

or in check customize file system option choose any db2010 phone like k750 or w810 and choose the cust pack or CDA that matchs the FS
