Ok, first, I have an AT&T w580 that I want to debrand and modify so I can use flash themes(I wish it were as easily done as it is said). I am very very bad at this stuff. I have searched and found the guide for XS++ 3.1 but am still very lost.

Anyways, I have downloaded XS++ ver. 3.1, this flash driver --> 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download USBFlashDriver.zip , and the SEUS. Ok, first question. Is there anything else I need to download?

Now, second question I have for now. I connected to XS++ and got this:

I think I need to download this as well --> W580_R6BC002_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52 - Would that be correct? If so, is this site the only one to get it at(I havent posted 20 messages yet) and if that is not the correct file, which one should I get?

Where do I get the Main Firmware(Looked in the downloads section but didn't see it)? EDIT: Found this --> Downloads - Top Sony Forums - Is that correct?

look here for a generic Main and a FS and corresponds to the languages in your phone and use the same customization as your FS.

Second, just flashing to a generic FW wont unclock your phone, you need to patch it with the Sp-Lock patch.

The reason I was looking at the ones I was looking at is because I saw on here that they would fix the bug where the lights change back to green every time I use the walkman function. Will the R8 firmware fix that as well? And as I said, I am new to this. What do I do with that code you posted?

Ok, so is R8BA024 the one I want, or is R6BC002 the one I want? And is the Custom Pack I linked to in the original post the one I want(I noticed it says "R8A" in the title so I don't know)?

Well R8BA024 is the latest firmware, unfortunately it has that light effects bug. I'm not really sure what the difference is between R6BC002 and R8BA024. What fixes/changes did SE make between the two. If you want to fix for the light effects, go R6BC002. If you want the latest firmware, go R8BA024. I have R8BA024, but I'm thinking of going back to R6BC002 because the light thing annoys me so much. I've also heard, though not confirmed, that SE is working on a new firmware revision that will fix this.

For R8BA024 you need:
W580_R8BA024_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52
W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_15_R8A_GENERIC_AMERICA_1 <-- custom pack

For R6BC002 you need:
W580_R6BC002_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52
W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52

Yes... custom packs are universal. You can use the same for both firmwares.

Ok, one last question(I hope, lol). When I am installing the custom pack, I use FSX and open "tpa", then "preset" then delete the "custom" section and upload the custom file I have, correct?

EDIT: The reason I am asking about FSX is because XS++ doesn't have a custom pack for the w580. Is that the right way to go?

And I'm also getting the "Coniguration error. Please contact your service provider or service center." message at startup. Will installing the custom pack fix that or did I mess up when flashing?
