I'm sticking with R6 since it has some of the patches that I need. All I need to do is port them once I learn how.

Just debranded an AT&T previously running an R7(something) firmware with R8BE001 (america_1) + a Laura custpack.

The only 2 negatives I have noticed are:

    1) the volume slider during standby yields phone status now (known issue)
    2) phone now seems to chew up the battery much faster

The "screen saver" is not active, and I have been running the same bluetooth acc the whole time.

I may back off to R6 as well, to see if this clears up.

wow! thanks for more information about the bugs, but I never tried to flash to R8BE001.

Now, I'm waiting for the improved firmware.

OK, after messing with R8BE001 for a few more days, I think the battery consumption I reported was not as serious as I thought initially. Typically, for the first three hours of the day after leaving the charger, the phone loses about 2% battery per hour on standby alone with bluetooth on. After that it becomes difficult to track battery life as I begin to use it intermittently.

I will take a few more days baseline on this firmware, and then drop back to an R6 with the same experiment. I no longer have the R7 that came on the phone from the branded AT&T pack, but I am not going back to that anyway.

    Zacher,

Did you always have bluetooth activated when you had the older firmware on your phone? Having bluetooth constantly activited will definitely run down the battery life. Also do you have the screen brightness at the same setting that you used to?

Let us know what your findings are when you go back to R6 firmware

I used to use R8BA024 with the brightness set to 100% and was usually able to get 2 to 3 days. Walkman and FM mode is on for about 4 to 5 hours a day.

Currently with the R6BC002 and brightness set to 70%, I get at least 3 days with the same usage.

Ok, downgraded to the R8BA firmware and checked battery useage.

Bluetooth on, light useage, brightness at 60%. Battery went from 100% to 90% in just over 4 hours, which is the same consumption rate that I saw under R8BE. I am going to give it a few more days and then I will take a crack at an R6 firmware. Like I said before, this SEEMS like a higher consumption that the R7 (at&t branded) firmware, but I am trying to test this and control all the variables.
