    USB Transfer Speed

Is it really this slow? Or is something wrong here?

I just sent 700MB to my pendrive and it took 2min, now I'm sending two MP3 files of about 100MB each and it's gonna take more than 10min.

The copy via windows explorer is really that slow? Is there any software I can use to speed that up?

Now I'm using Winamp to transfer the files and it's still waaaaaaaaaaay slower than any transfer to a pendrive or my iPod.

Before someone asks: Yes, I'm using "File Transfer" mode.

It is slow comparing with a pendrive. The file transfer speed between PC and a SE phone using DCU-60 cable is about 0.1 MB/s, while a pendrive speed is about 5-20 MB/s(but it highly depending on pendrive type, so can be more or less).

Well, I wouldn't say 0.1MB/s. I saw transfers varying from 250 to 350KB/s on MyPhoneExplorer, with "Phone Mode", so I'm guessing it's a little more than that in "File Transfer" mode.

But now that I know that it is NORMAL for this cable to be slower than other USB devices such as a pendrive, I feel somewhat relieved, since it's not a problem with MY phone, or MY cable, or MY USB port.

But, can you explain me WHY is that?

I have an original Sony M2. And I guess if I'm going to leave my ipod at home I'm gonna have to be more patient while transfering music to my new cell-phone/mp3-player. ;)

are all sandisk cards of low quality? or would original sandisk cards have higher speeds compared to other "shady" cards?

thats the real speed, if you remove the mem card from the phone and use a card reader the speed is higher, it's something about how the phones are built or the cable, if the speed is arround 250kb/s it's ok, if you want higher speeds use a card reader.
