    K810i ....IMEI Change ?

    Ok so i am new to modding but i have just changed from Nokia to sony ericsson and now i want to change my imei (maybe i am paranoid but i like to know that i control the things i own) anyway is it possible and if so how can i do it ?

    Yes it is possible to change the IMEI. But messing about with the IMEI is illegal.

    IMEI is written in a OTP PROM, which is a one time programmable ROM, i.e. IMEI is written once in this PROM and can never be changed. There is another place, however, in which IMEI is witten, the "GDFS", which "is the phones "stash", where all settings and calibration data is stored (this also goes for the firmwares IMEI-resource as well as the SIMlocks)". The GDFS is writeable.

    When you power on the phone, a check is performed: If the IMEI in the PROM is equal to the IMEI in the GDFS the phone boots and works normally. Otherwise not.

    It seems that exists a patch for some phones to circumvent this initial check, but this is obviously illegal! I would never do such a thing, since this will probably brick your phone! :eek:

    this is an illegal action but you can use setool for this action
