Need help with W580i

I am new to the forums and want to have the flash menus on my phone. My phone is the w580i (black/orange) and i have tried this tutorial: Flash Menu Tutorial For All Mobile - Top Sony Forums

When I run Phone-XS 2 i press start on the program and begin holding the "C" on my phone while it is off and then plug it in to the usb port quickly but it never detects my phone. It comes up with an error of "failed open". I have removed the SIM card and then memory card out of my phone and I am not sure what to do now. Could someone tell me what i should do?

ok i have installed the usb flash driver now and it recognized it thank you.

i have just heard of a method that allows me to use the flash menus without flashing my phone. Using FAR manager. Does anyone know any good tutorials on enabling flash menus using the FAR manager?

ok so i have now uploaded the clubpulse.swf file to the tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash directory and disconnected fine. my phone booted up :D which made me feel all good inside but still, no new menu. There is obviously some step that i am missing. What do i do now that it is on my phone?

you must use the theme which use clubpulse.swf or modify it by yourself. To modify a theme file, you can use "powerarchiver" app to extract file theme.xml in it (theme file is a archive file). After that you can edit this file to use your *.swf

so i put cat.swf (a renamed menu) into the flash menu folder using the FAR manager again. I also created a new theme and edited the XML file with notepade to correspond with the cat.swf file. This is the code inside the XML in the .thm file that i put on my phone:

i disconnected my phone and turned on the theme but still, no new menu. It DID turn on the theme, but did not change the menu. So i'm not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

do i need to have my phone debranded to do this!? ok looks like i have another step to add....crap. so what is the best tutorial for debranding the w580i?
