    Smile Wotan Flash Failed

Hey guys... I have a secondhand 580i.. won't even turn on though.. and yes I've charged the battery.so I tried to flash it with Wotan, and everything cooked along till the end when it gave"wrong header" "Flash Failed" messages. I have retried choosing different firmware each time.

I also tried the EROM fix deal pressing 2+5 connected to Wotan: here's what I got :

    WotanClient 1.0.2

The error you get does only mean that your EROM is up to date.
Please post the log of the flashing process.
You can try to flash with XS++ or SE Tool lite, too.

Thanks Justme!.. is there any reason to believe SETool or XS++ would succeed where Wotan didn't? Just wondering.

The reason why I recommended SE Tool and XS is that I know them better (so does everyone on this forum) and that it's free.
Your problem looks like you got a bad flashfile. That's really confusing because your downloading the file directly from Wotan. Have you tried to take a different firmware version?

Yes, I was offered 3 different firmware versions, and tried just about every file under each that 1) contained English language and 2) matched my CDA #. That log I posted was just one of several,... same msg every attempt. So what does the "wrong header" msg mean, do you know?

I'm nervous about trying to do this myself via XS or Setool.. might really trash my phone. I really am just starting to fiddle around w mods. I have used Wotan without a hitch on my W810i and really like the changes.

I should probably mention that after the flash attempts I tried charging my phone again.. no display so I can't tell if it's accepting a charge.. but the red light under the "C" comes on for maybe 5 seconds, then nothing again.

Thanks again much for trying to help.

Ok, that looks like there's a problem with the phone itself. I never had a W580 and don't know what the red light indicates.
Could you download XS++ and/or SE Tool lite and post the logs when you just identify the phone? Maybe that'll bring a bit more light into the dark that we're in right now ;)
Since your doing nothing with XS/SET but identifying the phone you don't need to be worried about doing something wrong

Do you know what happened to the phone? Could you contact the one that you've got it from?

I don't think it's more noob-friendly. XS++ is pretty self-explanatory wheras SE Tool lite could confuse you.

Now I am confused... I guess it all depends on who you talk to...because all kinds of ppl posted probs w XS.. but I guess anything can go wrong w either program, if you don't follow the instructions carefully.

The latest chapter in my phone saga is that I tried w Wotan 1 last time.. and though I left the logs on my home computer, so I cant post them till tonight..it found my phone and verified the flash header this time... It started writing flash blocks... got to around 46 blocks the 1st time .. and WINDOWS gve me the dreaded "Wotan has encountered an error and must shut down"..so I figure : "well.. the phones already bricked... let me reboot and retry". This time it got to around 94 blocks and toasted out.

End result : I figure : there's a 7 day satisfaction guarantee from the seller.. so I am sending the darn thing back today. Stoopid phone :)

Thank you for all the good advice.. she is going to replace rather than refund.. if she has one in stock... so I may yet use XS to debrand and cross my fingers!!

As I know the red light means a bad EROM, connect your phone to XS and post the log, please.
