W850i flashing white (was) noe nothing.

Hi im new to this phone stuff. The problem is i have my mates w850i which was flashing white then black now its dead. I need to reflash it somehow but i cant connect it to my pc due to my pc not reconizing the phone and it wont turn on dead as a dodo.
I own another w850i and it connects to my pc fine.
Any help would be greatful cheers.
Oh i tried connecting using xs++ but its just says cannot open phone communication port.
