w810i and white screen of death

hey all, i bought a w810i with WSOD (apparently), so I flashed it with:

-W810_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_RED49
-W810_R4EA031_FS_T_MOB_INT_B_RED49


edit: I noticed my MAIN and FS are not the same:


could this be problematic?

Using XS++

Flashing was sucessful, and the phone was brought back to life.


Works fine for abit, but when I turn off the phone and turn it on again, the menus are VERY laggy. I have to turn it off and turn it back on again, and when I do, it is either fixed (ie: no lag), or I get WSOD again!

What could be the cause of this? (I did not put any media on the phone as there is no memory stick)

I think the problem is, I flashed using wrong (regional)? firmware.


The phone has an asia (hong kong?) style charger, but I am in North America, can someone tell me which is the 'right' firmware for the phone? I just want a 'newer' firmware (MAIN and FS) that was from the original country of the phone

PS: if i need to flash erom, do I just d/l the cid49 erom (from top sony downloads)?

Did you customize your phone? Because main and filesystem are not enough, you must custimize phone to finish and to work all propertly.

Do you mean customize my phone by picking CDA/region?

How do i know which region or CDA is the 'correct' one?

I just picked the region/CDA of the MAIN/FS files (not the original phone, I have no idea where it is from!)

Go here Top Sony - Languages Description and see which FS suits you best. If you choose for example S_E_EUROPE, you must select customization for that FS (xs++ has it built in). Why do you use T MOB FS?

i chose the t mob, because I thought it would be suitable (tmobile = usa? = english?)

I just want to flash my MAIN and FS, and wasn't sure which 'combination' works the best.

I just want english language.

"Region Codes: Firmwares are designed for specific regions and contain different languages.
If you want to debrand your phone you have to use GENERIC firmware files.
Have a look at the Languages Description on TopSony’s mainsite to find out which region you need."

So if I am in north america, i cannot use the europe firmware and vice versa?

AMERICA_1 US English - Canadian French - Latin American Spanish
AMERICA_2 US English - Brazilian Portuguese - Latin American Spanish

These two are most suitable for you i guess.

I live in India and all phones here are EMEA (europe). I'm not quite sure of the consequence but what i do know is that North America and the rest of the world have major differences in GSM connectivity.
So without getting technical I'd recommend you use the American versions, they'd be better.

Anyway, so technically, both should work fine (compatible) with my phone? yes?
