Don't know exactly what is wrong with your phone, but you can try to reflash the phone(MAIN, FS, custom pack). Then try the T-Mobile SIM(before applying the unlock patch) to see if you get "Insert Correct SIM Card". If you still get "Insert Sim or Press Demo" then there is a problem with phone. Then apply the patch...
