To debrand or not to debrand?

    Hi guys,
I am a typical noobie in an atypical situation...sorry if I am reiterating what was posted already but I have yet to see someone else in the same situation.

I would like to debrand my w580i back to its generic firmware for America and English language--mainly bc my phone has been shutting off randomly and I can't turn it back on unless I plug it back into the charger or take out the battery and put it back in. ?_? I think this may be a software issue. Does anyone know if it might be a hardware issue? If it is, idk if debranding will solve the problem.

I don't really understand the regions and numbers but if someone could upload/email the firmware and/or explain it to me I'd be really grateful.

If your mobile phone is still under warranty, then bring it back to shop & let them fix that for you; if it is’nt, than u can try to flash u’r phone (I think u’r problem isn’t connected with branding of the phone); if flashing doesn’t help – than it should be a HW problem & for that there is no other help but to bring it in service for repairs
    Good luck ;)

thanks guys, but I decided something was faulty with the handset not the firmware. I ordered a replacement and successfully flashed it using xs++. :)

Now I'm having problems with walkman player .... whenever I try to play some songs, a mix of other songs play. For example, I'll press play for "Song A" and first twenty seconds will play "Song H" next 15 seconds "Song D" etc.

Has anyone had this problem? Please help

Try to flash it with SE official flasher, if there isn`t a newer version of your firmware, just reflash it with the same version.

ruskia: what is SE official flasher? I obtained my firmware from the downloads section of topsony.com so I'm fairly sure it is official. Also, I have reflashed multiples times with same firmware. Anyone who understands what's going on , please help

SE official flasher is called SEUS. It's sony ericsson's own update service.

yeah reflash the phone with the same software and it should fix itself back to how it should be.

reflash it with either Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS), or XS++
