W580 Flash Clarification

I've been looking around the forums and I just wanted to make sure I have the right idea. My w580 is from AT&T/Cingular.


So I need to flash the firmware and the file system according to this:

So, I'll use XS++ with:

Firmware: W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
File System: W580_R8BA024_FS_AMERICA_2_RED52

I've read on the forums something about customs pack, specifically the Laura_i. Do I need that or should I skip it. If I do need it, where can I get it and how do I flash it? I've tried using search but I keep getting 0 results :[

And finally, will I still be able to use the Sony D2P , update service and all of the other programs with my newly unbranded phone?

If you select the generic CDA from the list in XS++ for your region and handset in XS++ then the program will customize the handset for you. You wont need to upload any extra files. I think the CDA you need is CDA102568/16 for america 2.

Which FS /Firmware is the standard for the Sony Ericsson (by standard I mean the one and unlocked/unbranded w580 would come with). Is the America_2 standard or is it user created?

The MAIN firmware you used is an unbranded (standard SE) firmware. There are several FS versions, but the only difference is the different language support(no more, no less). And yes America_2 FS is created by SE like any other FS.

So, I do not need to download the Laura_i customs pack because XS++ already has it right? (not the Laura_i, but another customs pack.)

Yeah, XS++ has plenty of custpacks in it hahahaha :D. It can finalize many phone without downloading custpacks for them. Anyway, the worst way is to download custpack and use the "own_custpack" option :D

i tried debranding my w580i using XS++ but it does not have custpack for w580i.

also i tried the owncustpack option but it doesn't seem to be working as i guess it but give an option to browse to the location where i have my custpack on the hard disk

Anyone who debranded his AT&T w580i??

for xs++ you can upload a cuspack after you flash even when you d/c the phone.

just flash it first, then unpack the cuspack to the "files_to_upload" folder and gdfx write option.

Since I know how it is to try to research all the info about this Ill post up a good source that i found today and made me finaly have enough confidence that i wouldnt mess up my phone. I unbranded my W580i and my wife's W580 as well (once she seen how bad ass mine was afterwards)

It was kinda hard to get nice support to what people would say.
The fact that u have to try to search all up and down the net to find files and still not sure if they are the right ones... I think its just plain dumb that as a nubie trying to get the right info and files has such a hard time at this site, cant even access the files they need for thier phone... I guess they just trying to make a quick buck, o well...

heres the site i found that has the right info and others input/exp to back it up. Not to mention there is a complete file package
of what we W580i owners need.. USA guys, dont worry that its ASIA files, its got english lang in it.
