How to enable flash menus without debranding - w810i

Hey I haven't seen a tutorial on how to do this yet so I thought I would write one up. When you debrand your phone, you can lose some of the features that were originally on your phone, AND it costs money a lot of the time so ya, if you're just looking to enable flash menus on your w810i, read on.

First of all, since it's been said in other tutorials, I take no responsibility if you brick your phone. Everything is done at your own risk.

    1) Access your phone through the XS++/far + SEFP method. There's tutorials EVERYWHERE on how to do this so I'm not gonna go through the process.
    2) Go into /tpa/preset/custom/
    3) There you should find a file called customize.xml. Copy this to your desktop or anywhere else on your computer that you want.
    4) Find the file in the location you just copied customize.xml to and open it with notepad.
    5) Find the line titled <enable-flash-desktop>false</enable-flash-desktop> and change it to <enable-flash-desktop>true</enable-flash-desktop>
    6) Save the file.
    7) Delete the old customize.xml (the one that's on your phone) and replace it with the one you just edited.
    8) Enter the file /tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash and there you should find a file called DisableFlash. Delete that as well.
    9) Go back to the root (keep clicking ".."), exit far manager, flash your MAIN firmware and you should be good to go!

If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.

I do want to add by saying that the <enable-flash-desktop>false</enable-flash-desktop> is not always the reason that flash menus will not work. If it had originally said true or if changing it to say true did not work, then you must search your phone using FAR and go to TPA\PRESET\SYSTEM\DESKTOP\FLASH. Inside this directory there is sometimes a file named "DisableFlashDesktop". DELETE THIS FILE. Once done, your phones flash menus should work.

what features you can lose? none of them, unbranded firmwares are the best.
Branded firmwares can contain restrictions. in my w300 there was no flash menu because it was tmobile branded, and it looked shit in the main menu, coz there was an ugly ribbie williams icon and the pink t-zones icon.... after debranding all of these stupid things are gone. And its free, and quick. I recommend to debrand your phone because original firms are better, sometimes faster!

O.O I REALLY wanna debrand my phone... but would Cingular be able to tell like from their headquarters? And hey, as long as I keep my phone in it's protective case, it can't break... and I wouldn't need to show it to the Cingular fags. Oh, and would debranding it remove internet on my phone?

@gyuszi debranding your phone would remove some things like if there were games/applications as well as themes and other such things that came with your phone that are only available through branded phones. But i would agree that for the most part its better to have an unbranded one.

@Wally_Dog Cingular would not be able to tell by unbranding your phone at all. but debranding it would remove the settings for internet on your phone, so you just need to add the settings back onto your phone after the debranding to get internet once again on your phone.
