    w580 shutter noise

Patched my phone with W580_R6BC002_FS_HONG_KONG_RED52, W580_R6BC002_MAIN_HONG_KONG_LA_RED52 and HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_104_R8A_GENERIC_HONG_KONG.

The biggest problem I have now is I cant shut off the shutter noise, even in silent mode.

Anyone else have the same problem as this?

Was your phone rogers branded? Apparently, shutter sound can't be turned off in rogers phones, even if you debrand it. My W580i is debranded, and I have no shutter sound.

    Thats really odd.
Yea, mine is branded rogers. Ive went through and patched it with HK firmware... doesnt make much sense for them the hardcode the shutter noise.

I have a W580i from rogers. It came with shutter noise (obviously), i then promptly took it to pacific mall (our.. local asian mall) and had it debranded, shutter noise was gone! then i had to send the phone in for warentee repairs... it came back rebranded with the shutter noise... and just about 10 minutes ago i flashed it with:
    W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
    W580_R8BA024_FS_HONG_KONG_RED52
    HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_104_R8A_GENERIC_HONG_KONG

and the shutter noise is still there... I've read that to surpress the shutter noise you have to do something inside of the customize.xml file... but it's 2am here in toronto and im sleepy... maybe somebody can come along and let us know what to put in the xml...

    =)

I've also read about editing the customize.xml file, but haven't looked into it too far. As far as the shutter sound on the Rogers phone, it's possible it's hardwired into the phone. I think I read somewhere a couple years back that it's illegal for cell phones in Canada to have a silent shutter sound. Something about too many upskirt shots being taken without people noticing.

My girlfriend just bought an unbranded UK model W910 (beautiful phone, btw) and she can turn off the shutter sound fine.

all you gotta do is make a blank text file and rename it to the extinction that your phone uses and upload it via the program you use.
