    Camera video length on W810i

Not sure where the best place to post this was so thought I would start here. I have an unbranded W810i using the latest generic firmware. When I take a video with the camera after unbranding, it will only record for about 30 seconds. My wife's and daughter's phone (still branded) record well over a minute. Checked all the phones settings I could find and set them to match their phones to no avail. Now the NOOB question..... how do I get my unbranded phone to record as long as it used to when branded? I have been looking for an answer to this for several days with no luck. Any suggestions?

start video camera, go to Settings -> Shoot mode -> and choose High quality video, your cam might be set to picture message and thats the reason why your recording limit is 30s.

Or maybe you don`t have enough free space to record longer video... start the cam, switch to the video rec. mode and settings->Save to and select Memory Stick and also check your free space in the phone and the card memory. Normally the phone record video till have free space in the intern memory or in the memory stick...

Thanks for the quick answers but I don't think it's my free space or my mode setting. My unbranded phone gives the options: "For Picture msg" but the branded phones give the option of: "For Multimedia msg". Does that have any significance? Unbranded phone will record 30 sec, branded, 2 minutes. Just to see, I unbranded my wife's phone and now she has the same problem I have. I have WAY more space then my daughter's (branded) phone and she can record almost 2 minutes. This seems to have changed with the unbranding. Is there anything I can do to restore the longer recording time? Maybe I need to try to find the Cingular/AT&T firmware and reflash my wife's phone until I figure this one out, as she wants the longer time. Thanks for the help and still open to any suggestions.

But don't you have another shooting mode, I have an unbranded W810i and I have two shooting modes, high quality in witch I can shoot as long as my memory gets full and "For picture message" in witch I can shoot 30 sec. there is no difference between "For Picture msg" and "For Multimedia msg". cuz anyway that is limited to the message size. Eventually try to flash your phone again. Did you, by any chance, changed your cam drivers too?

Yes, I have the "high quality video mode" option, and I tried that, but I am not able to use that video for messages unless I keep it less then 30 seconds, so that doesn't work. Still don't get the almost 2 minute time I had with the branded firmware.

I have flashed my phone several times but have not changed the video drivers. (I have the drivers that come with the generic firmware.) All I get is 30 seconds for picture messaging. How do I get the 2 minute time back, other then reflashing with branded firmware? How do I copy the firmware from my branded phone to reflash my unbranded phone? Or can that be done?

    Thanks again for the help.

I understand now you can shoot for longer than 30 seconds but you want to send it as a message, there is a limit in kilobytes when you want to send a message and that is reached (usually) at 30 seconds of shooting and thats the reason why you can't use it for messages. Another thing you could try is to enter with Far in the FS of the branded phones you have (your wife's for eg.) copy the camdrivers from \IFS\SETTINGS\CAMERA , theres a file, copy it to your desktop, and upload that camdriver to your unbranded w810i with FAR or SeTool. If you have any question i'll try to help, but only today or tomorow cuz on monday I have to go to work and I'll have less time.

actually, me and my friend have similar issues.... it turned out that I bought a new 2gig M2 card as soon as i debranded, but my 2gig was a cheap brand and had a low write speed... so as a result, he could record a longer video on his "stock" 512 card... then me with ym 2gig.... needless to say, when we switched memory cards the problem went away.... just to tie up the story, i returned the mem card and bought a sandisk 1gig, im happy now =)

Thanks for the input C. Blue but we all have the same Sony cards, so no luck for me on that one, but I really appreciate the help.
Yes Khaba, that's the problem. Now I am limited to 30 secs for a message and my branded phone can record and send a message up to 2 minutes in length. Thanks for the ideas of getting the camdriver from the FS with Far. I'll give that a try and see what happens and will let ya know. Thanks again for the help.

Jeez! Not my week to buy a lottery ticket. Now Far, which I have used before, stops when I try to access the FS on both my phones. When I click FS my phone turns on, goes to file transfer mode and Far just hangs. Now what is causing that? Maybe I should take up a new hobby?

did you flash the brake-in loader with XS++ before connecting to FAR? that's the reason why it starts.
