    Is your phone locked or unlocked? I just debranded my phone with a generic main, and a hong kong fs and custom file and can view chinese now, but can't type chinese characters. I am thinking about flashing it with a hong kong main, fs, and custom file, but i am scared that it won't take my roger's sim card since it is locked.

    My phone is still locked under rogers. I flashed my phone few times now try to find the best combo, and I haven't run in to any problem yet. from what I read and understand flashing and you sim card are to different things. they shouldn't be interfering with each-other. I now using a Taiwan main, fs, and hong kong custom file. I didn't have any problem with sim card at all or with the phone. so i'm sure it will be ok for you too...

    good to hear ur flashing went so well, just curious since somehow... it sounds like you have access to many more firmwares then me.... have you come across any set of files that silences the shutter tone? i know its possible... but just not sure where or how....

    @C.Blue to silences the shutter sound is fairly easy. all you need is XS++ 3.0 here is how I did it.

    start XS++ 3.0 click on connect and connect your phone by holding the "c" and plug in the cable. choose "FSX" at the bottom and click "Start FSX" wait about a min or two. and you will see the tree list in the "Filesystem Explorer" window goto "tpa\preset\system\sound" at the right you will see a list of files, that's all the sound clip for everything in your phone. now look for file name "camerashutter#.3gp" and "camerashutter#_rer.3gp" there should be few of them. depends how many shutter sound you have in your phone where should be equal number of both of the files. first shutter sound doesn't have a number at the end of the file name, then it's 2,3, and so on. now what I did was delete the last one on the list. that way is easier to remember which one have no sound.

    here is what I done. I have 4 shutter sounds in my phone, so I deleted "camerashutter4.3gp" and "camerashutter4_rer.3gp" from the phone. after I deleted the two files, click "Shutdown" this is very important, other wise it can break your phone. after that unplug your phone and remove your battery and put it back again. start your phone, now goto you camera and click "more" then go down to "shutter sound" and choose the one you deleted, in my case the 4th one. and woolaa...no more sound...and remember to turn off your "key sound" as will...

    hope this will help you. good luck customizing.......;)

    You can also just modify the customize.xml file to do this for you.
    To do this, open up notepad (or wordpad doesn't really matter). Inside of notepad have it say:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <customization>
    <camera>
    <suppress-camera-sound>true</suppress-camera-sound>
    </camera>
    </customization>

    Then save the file as customize_upgrade.xml it must be a .xml file. Don't name it customize_upgrade.xml and have it a .txt extension. It must be .xml extension. Then just upload the file to tpa\preset\custom on your phone (you can use far or xs++ or however you like to upload files to you phone) and then just restart your phone. The nice thing about this way is all you have to do is put your phone in silent mode (which you would do anyways with leon21ca's way to not hear the key sounds) and when you take pictures it will be silent. You also can then hear the sound if it doesn't matter at times when the phone isn't in silent mode plus you get to keep all the different shutter sounds (dono if it even matters to you but the option will still be there)

    I thought that would do it too... but somehow.. it doesn't work... after deleting the 2 3gp files it worked, obviously, but it seems somewhat brute.... silencing it by deleting the sounds... but thank you both for your input on this..... but if anybody else knows something like maybe firmware R8 doesn't allow silencing of shutter tones maybe? i dunno...
    =)
