There are two ways to unlock a vendor-locked phone so that it can be used with different service providers.

The legal way is to obtain an unlock code, keyed to your specific IMEI number, from your service provider. They will usually charge you for this, even if they agree to do it.

The other way is to force unlocking by cracking the unlock code. The K800 uses a more powerful CPU (the DB2020) than older SE phones and the firmware is heavily encrypted. This encryption has not been "cracked" yet, so in order for unauthorized people to unlock the phone it is necessary to use lengthy "brute force" methods, i.e. an automated trial and error process which can take a couple of days using powerful hardware.

At present the only people offering an unlocking service over the net for the K800 are the Davinci team (they charge 50 euros).

If this is too expensive and your vendor won't help you, you might try looking for a well equipped cellphone unlocking shop in your location, maybe they can help you.

BTW I have seen it reported that some networks (eg Three in the UK) tend to re-lock any phones they find on their network that have been unlocked without their permission. I don't actually know if this is really happening but they are certainly capable of doing this without your informed consent just by sending you a SIM update over the air.
