I want to upgrade the FW of my w800 to R1BC002 but the EROM color of my phone is Brown. What should i do?
Do i need to convert the EROM color before i can upgrade the FW. is it possible to change the EROM color?

You can still use FAR to upgrade your firmware. and yes, you can upgrade your EROM from brown to red with a EROM patch as it is available. :)

How can i change the EROM color from brown to red? what software should i use? i'm still a newbie in this customizations thing, i tried FAR once but unfortunately i didn't understand the interface, so i tried XS++ but when tried it it shows that my phone color is brown.
The FW that i like to upgrade to is only available in red so i assume that i need to convert the EROM color to red but i don't know how.
How can i upgrade the EROM using patch?

If I'm not wrong, patching your phone to RED can be done by using GDFSEdit software and a GDFS patch file that is included with it to convert Brown to Red. After that is done, you can use XS++ to flash your firmware... search the SE-NSE forums for this patch or try searching this forum for it may still exist somewhere. Please dont forget to back up your GDFS before trying to patch anything. Hope this helps, I already sold my w800 so it's but a memory now...

i've read in previous topics that newbies like me should not modify the GDFS. i'm not really knowledgeable in this modding thing.
i really want to customize my phone but i might also brick it.

found this at the tutorial topic, i can i apply various drivers even if the current settings of my phone is this:V. Uploading acoustics/camdrivers etc.
1. Extract the files you want to upload into the “files_to_upload” folder
NOTE: Make sure you preserve the correct path, the first folder in the “files_to_upload” folder should be the “tpa” folder
2. Connect your phone to XS++ and switch to the FSX tab
3. Click “Start FSX”

or drivers can only be applied to specific FW? does patches for my FW (R1AA008) be applied regardless of the EROM color?

if xs or FAR can upload the camera driver files to your phone then its not necessary to edit your GDFS, to be safe, try with various uploading utilities to see whether one is successful... Originally Posted by SEpsyche

don't edit ur gdfs, thats not how it's done it is better to have a red erom
blue= unprogrammed phone
brown= developers , beta phone, can't be flash with red firmware
red= retail phone
to convert to red u need far+sepf, unzip the erom i attached for u and when in far, highlight (click once) FLASH then with the right side of far select the erom and press F5 now flash the erom @ 44000000_00020000, u will need to flash ur firmware after flashing the erom. this time u will need red cid:36 firmware
