hi this might be a silly question but does de branding unlock my phone and what is the easiest way to de brand.

Have a look at the tutorials section. XS++ is very easy.

HI stu,
Debranding doesn't unlock your phone it just gives you a better file system. The sim lock itself is related to teh baseband of the phone which isn't touched during a file system reflash.
