Mine changes bars same way, move half a feet higher and you get 3-4 and a little down and will go down to 1 or sometimes none. May be because of the way sometimes you hold the phone - considering antenna is probably at the bottom. (I'm kind of used to it because I used to have w600i)

my w580i doesnt have the problem
