you just need to know one thing, a phone speaker has a declared power, proboably about 1W, pushing it over the limit will result in damage of the speaker. anyway phone amplifier has very low voltage to work with, it's only 3.6V. Once you hear chops and cracks it means that the amp is in saturation, and that DC is going through the speaker, causing irreversible damage to the cone and the coil.

Hey, man! You're damn right! But some guys are never satisfied and they do not do their homework properly.
They sometimes believe it is possible to customize a mobile phone just like some proffessionals do with racing stock cars.
They simply ignore the hardware specifications, foolishly I must say, and at the end they will pay the price for their ignorance.

The progress is achieved by tial and error experiments.

    SO, LET THEM BE!

i found out this theory, because my dad works with electronics.

when i bought a brand new 5.1 sound system, i amped bass to the max, after a month my woofer started to cause distorsion. it took about 3 hours for me and my dad to mod it so it would even play sound, not to mention full power.

and can you compare cell phone speaker to a thick cone subwoofer. it's 10 times weaker

In a previous post I was talking about this subject and made a joke.
If these guys really want something to enjoy HI-FI sound performace it would be a good ideea to listen to a set of NAUTILUS giants powered by a KRELL amplifier. This way they would understand the difference between a HI-FI dedicated system and a mobile phone speaker.

they don't understand something, i will repeat and i don't care if anyone of these brains pays attention,

mobile phone works on 3.6V, if the speaker is 8ohm (i think it's more), the max power is U/R=I P=U*I so 3.6/8=0.45A P=0.45*3.6 P=1.62W, and 1.62W is the peak power, if you want more then amp gets into saturation U=Max so the direct curret runs through the speaker

I'll say its the Sony Ericsson W550i because it has 3 seperate speakers which in theory is stereo and subwoofer.

I agree on Badboy, except for his theory, its mostly high tones coming out of the W550i on highest volume, there is no way u can compare it to having a subwoofer even though it has 3 speakers, but it is verry loud.
