    Success in adding flash menus to my W580i

    The reason why I post about this is because all I did was use XS++ 2.2 (latest release as writing this is 2.2) and just clicked FSX (no customization, no firmware, no fs flashing required).

    I am new to this, it was my first attempt AND I could be wrong in my assumptions so please do not follow this "guide" as its more of a report to pro's to help in their work.

    Phone Details reported by XS++
    Profiling SEMC phone...
    Baseband ID: DB2020
    OTP CID: 51
    EROM CID: 52

    EROM Color: Red
    IMEI: 35683401xxxxxx
    Phone ID: W580
    Network: EUROPE_2
    CDA: CDA102774/101 R3A
    Firmware Version: R6BC002
    EROM: R3A022

    My details to add:
    1. It was purchased from Carphone Warehouse (UK).
    2. The service provider is O2 (UK).
    3. I heard through the grape vine that O2 does not brand their phones.
    4. There was no Firmware, FS nor CDA/custpack involved (just two clicks!).

    Steps I used to add Everchanging & Day Night flash menu to my mobile:

    1. Downloaded and installed USB Flash Drivers - so my mobile can be accessed by XS++ (drivers provided by WotanServer.com)

    2. Download & copied files of XS++ into one directory (i.e.. c:\XS++\).
    3. Ran it.
    4. Copied Flash Menu files* into XS++'s sub-folder called files_to_upload.

    I.e. using Everchanging Flash Menu - I opened the .rar file and copied the tpa folder AND it's sub-files/folders (everything) into the XS++folder's files_to_upload folder. The files_to_upload folder should then look like:
    c:\XS++\files_to_upload\tpa\ rest of contents . . .

    * Flash menu files purchased from Top Sony in the Downloads section. 240x320 resolution for W580 is correct believe.

    4. Hit Connect in XS++ (30 seconds before it stops trying to connect and not to detonation as I first thought).
    5. So within 30 seconds I connected by holding down "C" on my turned-off mobile and connected the USB cable that came with my w580i.
    6. The window signified lots of lovely details about my mobile once it connected (wish there was something like this for my girlfriend).

    7. Clicked FSX button and ran it. - 5 seconds and done.

    8. Copied Everchanging S500i theme files onto my mobile memory stick's theme folder (ofc I unzipped them).

    All of the setup & downloading took about 30 minutes. Research on what to do, took me 5 hours + one massive confused headache.. Actual uploading of flash menu and themes took 30 seconds..

    Like I said, I may have done it wrong, it may not be the WAY it should be but for me I am able to do what I wanted... display flash menu & desktop just like SE's S500i.

    I am not sure why Flash Menu and FS and customization are required and in what situation - Someone should create a mobile wiki or does one already exist?!
    Please can anyone provide a detailed account of why each of these things are necessary in a very pro to very noob manner?

    Anyway, I hope some of the information I posted is actually more useful than harmful.

    Thanks to the authors of these softwares for their hard work.

    Off topic : Not sure how common this has been done or if lots of people already design flash.swf files already but I tried making my own flash file from Adobe Flash Designer. It worked using settings: 12fps, Flash Lite, 240x320 (these are the only settings I tried) - managed to get a fading "L" on the desktop of the phone. So if you are good at Flash design (I am not) then you can do your own customized designs easily (not so easy for the menu I imagine as .xml is required to be edited in some way).
