or when someone comes up with a way of "stealing" the software or whatever it is they use to do it!

they sniff the software when its bussy to get the programs code ore something like that.

The best way to decode CID 52 is stealing it from setool team :]
but probably noone will so, we have 2 wait untill someone else will decode it and share for free...
i think it will take like 3-4 months from now until we can do something 'nice' for free with our db2020

You can't patch DB2020 phones (unless you use DaVinci system)
