    SE Debrand!

Why can't Sony Ericsson offer to debrand your phone IF you have bought it outright? Can't see what the problem would be.

I can think of only one reason why you could buy a branded phone: because it's cheaper then the debranded version. So your phone will be full of the carrier's crap and that's it. If Sony-Ericsson would remove the crap then the carrier's intention of customizing the phone for you (whether you like it or not - and you are supposed to like it because you knew this when you bought the phone) would be useless.

Also, Sony-Ericsson has agreements ($$) with the carriers for branded content.

So you bought a branded phone outright and you knew this and Sony-Ericsson has no reason to debrand it for you.

Nah, thats the thing, I DIDN'T know the phone was branded, if I knew, I wouldn't have bought it. This is what it said off the site where I bought my phone from

'Are your phones unlocked? Will they work on all networks? Are they branded?

All of our phones are completely unlocked. We believe in freedom of association here at Simply Mobiles.

They will work on all networks that Australian mobile phones are authorised to work on. So yes, they will work on all the standard networks with Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, Three - whoever!

None of our phones come with any external network branding however some handsets may have preconfigured internal software for use on certain networks, this will not impact on your ability to use the handset on any Australian network and in many cases can be removed free of charge by downloading a software update from the manufacturers website.'

It's basically passing the buck to SE.

Then report this abuse to some customer service and/or ask for help to your local authorities. If they lied to you and you can prove this maybe someone can help you.

Also read carefully any agreement, warranty, statements, etc you signed or received when you bought the phone to see if it specifies something about this.

They said: They will work on all networks that Australian mobile phones are authorised to work on. i think here's the nuance... they didn't tell youthat it would work on all networks... they said on all Australian networks...:( in a way they didn't lie... but they didn't tell you clearly that your phone should be simlocked...
