    tutorial1 k550i tow610i

    Things you will need:

    Windows XP Service Pack2

    Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) TO UPDATE YOUR K550 TO CID52:
    http//www.sonyericsson.com/downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.7.6.8-1 .exe (remove space between .exe and the rest of the link b4 copying to browser address bar)

    XS++ v 1.6.7
    XS++ eSnips Folder

    W610 R1KG001 MAIN FIRMWARE FILE:
    4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download W610_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_NA_RED52.rar

    Unzip all the necessary files before proceeding
    STEP1:

    Click on the SEUS executable file to run the update service. Do not connect your phone now. Select the appropriate fields and follow instructions. Its plain simple!!! SEUS will automatically install your USB FLASH drivers that you require to flash your phone. Connect the phone as instructed by the program. The whole procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes on a good broadband connection. If anything goes wrong in between (power cut etc etc…), don’t panic… you can do the whole thing all over again and revive your phone. The process is 100% safe…
    Whatever you do… do not touch the phone or PC while SEUS is updating your phone. After the phone is updated, re-insert sim and start your phone to see if its working fine!

    Congratulations… now your phone is updated to CID52.

    STEP2:

    Turn off your phone and remove sim. Reinsert battery. Click on XS++ executable file. Select port as USB. Now click ‘connect’. Within 30 seconds, insert data cable to phone while pressing and holding the ‘c’ key, the same way you connected to SEUS. As soon as your phone is detected, release the ‘c’ key. The left screen will display your phone details including your firmware version and EROM CID which should be CID52. OTP CID should be 51.
    Now, under configuration, select ‘flash’. In the new screen, check on ‘Flash Main Firmware’. Click ‘…’ and select the frmware file W610_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_NA_RED52.mbn(or .bin).
    Keep other tabs unchecked.
    Now hit FLASH! XS++ will begin flashing the firmware flashblocks… the process will take about 5 minutes. Do not touch your phone during this time.
    After XS++ displays ‘finished’, close the program and unplug phone. Reinsert sim and turn ON your phone.
    Congratulations coz you your phone is now a Walkman Cyber-shot!!

    Pros:
    Walkman 2.0 with Mega Bass
    Support for flash themes.

    Cons:
    Camera lens shutter switch will not work as w610 doesn’t come with a lens cover at all!!!

    Nice tutorial but I''ve a question: Is there any way of getting the camera shutter to work?

    Also you say congratulations your phone is now Walkman Cybershot? But doesn't the cybershot feature disappear when you flash it with W610 firmware? I flashed W610 Main and FS...I noticed you didn't flash FS, which perhaps is why I don't have cybershot but my guess is that if I didn'y flash FS the camera application would remain named as Cybershot but the Cybershot features would be removed??

    Thanks

    Well you still have your camera.You just loose the Cyber-shot logo that apiers when you open the lens cover on your K550.Thats it. On it's place W610 has one big camera logo witch is quite nice.
