Hi folks, w810i wsod, help please

Hi there, a beginner here but.........

Any help you folks could give me would be gratefully received.

My daughters w810i appears to have the wsod that I have now read so much about.

It happened after the phone being disconnected wrongly from the pc during putting songs on the mp3 player.

Now all we get upon turning it on is a pure white screen and a very slight vibration from it at first then it turns itself off after a short time.

I have tried updating the phone with SE's updater but unfortunately it made no difference.

If any of you folks could give me any advice it would be very much appreciated by my down in the dumps daughter, lol.

    Thanking you in hopeful advance

if you bought the phone with a contract plan, then take it back to your retailer and they should fix it, dont try yourself as you'll void the warranty that comes with it...if not > then youll have to re-flash the firmware yourself...just download the tools and the softwares from the download section and you should be able to do it in 30 minutes or less :)

You think that it would be the firmware that I should be looking at then ?

i believe so because when i messed up the firmware of my K750, i would occasionally get a flashing white screen whenever the the walkman player hit a song...it was specifically a FS problem so maybe reflash your FS

im also curious, what area do you live in where you can get a w810 on pay as you go? also how much did you pay for it because if its cheap id buy one too, here in Canada w810 is contract phone from rogers

Here in the UK we hav had the W810 on PAYG for for a while (and it's quite cheap now).
Have a look here as proof.

seancom, if you JUST bought the phone, and it got wsod, I'd bring it back to where you bought it and tell them you want a new phone, don't ask them, tellthem. That's ridiculous you don't get a warranty with a PAYG, or just send it directly to Sony Ericsson. And yes, if you flash the firmware, you'll totally void whatever warranty you have, so don't try that until it's your last resort, even though it's not likely anything bad will happen as long as you follow my guide: http://www.topsony.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3519 and with that tutorial I used my w810i

    Hi wally_dog,

First off many thanks for your reply and advice.
I get in touch with Amazon which is where we bought it from, and much to our amazement they agreed straight away to replace the phone with a new one and are sending it out.
Darling daughter is pleased as punch as it was her 12th birthday present and I have to say I'm rather impressed with amazon's customer service.

Thanks again for the advice, it served us well.
