    Debranding W800i

Is there any way to debrand a W800i using the standard cable that came with the phone?

I'm pretty sure it's a CID 36 Red, but I'm not sure how to check. I bought it almost 2 years ago when it first came out here in Australia and has been upgraded to a branded R1BC002.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a tutorial or links? also, is there anything I need to take into account if I wish to customise the firmware afterwards?

Thanks Mikey, I had a look in the service menu and under software info saw the firmware version numbers, but not sure how to identify whether or not my phone is red or brown or whether it is CID 36 or 49. Under configuration there is the IMEI number and other things I do not recognise. Am I on the right track guys?

    Well,
first, your color and CID number you can see with many different programs, such as FAR, WOTAN client, XS++ and so on...
second, to your first question, debranding is done by flashing your phone with "General" or "Unbranded" firmware, wich you can do using on of the programs I claimed above.
How to use them you can easily find on the forum or even on Google...
If you don't find your way, let me know, I redirect you (I need to look for it too).

Thanks drgre. Okay, this link looks like I'm on the right track. How would I back up my current firmware, then wipe the phone, and install the new firmware using far manager? I also realised that I have to wait a full month and make some more posts in order to download! Are there any other sources to download the firmware from?

Any links that you have I would greatly appreciate, to both downloads and tutorials.

Yep, these are the rules, or you can pay 2 euros and go ahead...
I don't think you need to backup, because if you want to roll back, you just plug your DCU cable and make SEUS, which will update your phone according to it's CDA to latest original software.

Download sites are quite a bunch, but you need a generic firmware which has langueges that you need... so it must be more specific...

Makes plenty of sense, I guess if I have to I'll wait for a month.

I need English and Spanish on the phone - which region(s)' firmware support these languages (dictionaries included)? Any other differences beside the included languages?

here you can find out what package do you want to patch to your phone, by the languages you want in it.
There are quite a few with English and Spanish in it... (dictionaries must be included).
Latest firmware can be different between two different packages...
