What is FAR Manager?

I am totally new to the this forum and also not that tech savy, i want to know what is FAR Manager. I have z550i with me and one of my friend told me that upgrading the firmware will enhance the mobile performance, so i want to know for upgrading firmware do i need to download FAR Manager and what else i need? Would it possible for someone to give me a descriptive guideline as to how to do it?

just a file manager, similar to windows explorer ( not to be confused with internet explorer). But it's got a plugin written so it can be used with se phones

for updating firmware there is no need to FAR manager ,It is a hard program for bigginers just use SEUS and update from SE site

SEUS is the abriviation for "Sony Ericsson Update Service" file that you should download it from sony ericsson Site(about 30 MB) and then just open it while you are online and fallow the instructions you could find some good tutorials by searching
