Yes it does, but with delays, as with any other SE phone... (it's a known bug...).

If you buy headphones from walkman would the sound quality improve for 790SE?

i think it would... plus, you could replace the earpieces with high end ones... seinheiser earphones would be a better upgrade

you buy lousier headphone= lousier quality

i used to have an audiotechnica attached on HPM-82
and i found that there are noise in the background and also some squeaks when there are massive drums
seems the phone matters as well

With 3.5mm adapter the real stereo headphones are my favourite, guess you should try Koss porta pro for instance?

JVC Marshmallows (available at pretty much any Best Buy or similar store around), they're around $20 and will sound better than pretty much any of the Walkman headphones. Good 3.5mm headphones can't be beat.
